As a key member of the accounting team, the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable Supervisor is responsible for supervising a team of two accounting assistants and the overall accounts payable, accounts receivable and bank reconciliations for our Canadian and US businesses.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Manage the accounts payable and accounts receivable function for multiple businesses in Canada and the US
  • Collect and review all invoices and code or supervise the coding of all invoices by the accounting assistant
  • Manage the payment process, including preparing payment batches, scheduling payments, and ensuring accuracy of payment details
  • Oversight of daily bank reconciliations by accounting assistant to ensure timely reviews and appropriate escalation of issues for review
  • Ensure Accounts receivables are issued in a timely manner and payments are collected and followed up as required
  • Be relied upon as the main point of contact for resolving complex A/P related issues, ensuring compliance with vendorpayment terms
  • Ensure team retains a copy of all invoices that pertain to common area expenses (CAE) on a monthly basis and supervise accounting of CAE by accounting assistant
  • Assist with month/quarter/year end activities related to accounts payable and receivable.
  • Improve, if necessary, the processes in place for the management of accounting administration
  • Compile Health and Safety packages for WSIB compliance and send out to all subtrades and suppliers, under the direction of the Health and Safety Representative/Human resources, and then scan and file the completed packages
  • Prepare letters to subtrades and suppliers on updates or requests
  • Managing two accounting assistants responsible for accounts payable, accounts receivable and billing, bank reconciliations and HST.
  • Supervise the activities of the team and provide coaching and guidance to ensure staff are meeting performance expectations
  • Check accuracy of employee reimbursement expenses before processing
  • Coordinate with vendors regarding invoicing and payment inquiries and discrepancies
  • Maintain accurate and uptodate filing system
  • Manage company cell phone accounts
  • Complete monthly utilities report

Education and Experience

  • College Diploma or Degree with a specialization in finance, accounting, or business
  • Three to five years' relevant work experience
  • Two years in a supervisory role
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite and Yardi software.
  • Intermediate in Excel

Salary:
$60,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
