Specific Accountabilities:

Technical Duties
a)Lead research projects in computer science and engineering.
b)Lead, conduct and help with research activities including literature review, data analysis, and experimentation in collaboration with researchers and industry partners
c)Be involved with direct experiments and maintain accurate reports.
d)

Support with analysis and design of experiments for research projects:
-design -implementation -installation -calibration -documentation
e)Provide consultancy support to partners, industry representatives for development of new projects
f)Help to prepare technical reports and presentation for research partners
g)Work with researchers to design and develop work plans and coordinate time lines for project completion
h)Attend meetings with research teams and industry partners to update activities
i)Help the supervisor with coordination of research student's activities
j)Help with selection, installation and implementation of various laboratory equipment and installation.

Maintaining equipment and instrumentation in in terms of regular maintenance repairs:

  • Scheduling regular maintenance
  • Keeping usage logs for equipment
l)Keeping up with overall lab maintenance consumables -Ordering auxiliary equipment
m)Ensure that the projects comply with health and safety regulations, College policies, WHMIS, and cybersecurity.
n)Ensure that quality standards are maintained

Administration Duties
a)Work with TAC managers and centre coordinators to develop and lead research projects
b)Liaising with research partners, suppliers, contractors, and relevant authorities for purchasing as well as executing required tasks
c)Work with supervisor and Research and Innovation Office for project management within cost and time constrained environments.
d)Work with Supervisor to develop task list for research students
e)Support the Research Lead in collaboration with Applied Research Outreach Coordinator to prepare content for promotional literature such as website content, brochures or flyers and coordinates printing and distribution
f)Help with tours to future partners, major contributors and guests.


About the Position:

This is an Initiatives/Opportunities bargaining unit employee position. This position will start as soon as possible and end in March 2026.

Working 35 hours per week at an hourly rate of $39.15/HR, they will be reporting to the Research and Innovation Operations Manager.


The incumbent's duties will be developing and leading collaborative research projects, designing experiments, generating reports and presentations, communicating with industry partners as instructed, maintaining research equipment and contract testing.


The incumbent will also be responsible for developing research projects and proposals, developing purchasing documents, recording the project progress and equipment status and helping with research outreach in collaboration with Research Lead and Applied Research and Innovation Office.


Qualifications:


  • Minimum of a 4 Year Degree in Computer Science and Engineering
  • Minimum of 5 years experience leading a research team and research projects.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in software development
  • Familiar with database tools, programming languages and testing tools
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft office
  • Strong commitment to overall health and safety
  • Welldeveloped analytical, problemsolving and evaluation skills required to troubleshoot, problemsolve and provide analytical solutions to a wide variety of situations.
