Position Summary:


(Afternoon shift)


The Operations Supervisor will be responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of all processing and packaging employees including maintenance and quality.

The Operations Shift Supervisor will ensure that production schedules are completed on time, and within budget.


Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Direct and supervise shift employees to ensure that the daytoday production requirements are met
  • Resolve all employee relations issues, complaints and health and safety concerns
  • Enforce safety and sanitation policies throughout all departments
  • Direct and coordinate the activities of employees engaged in the production or processing of goods
  • Provide motivation for employees, increasing morale
  • Increase worker efficiency and production rates
  • Monitor and assess employee performance
  • Ensure that work orders are completed in a timely fashion, within budget
  • Work with other supervisors and team leads to coordinate operations and activities within and between departments
  • Ensure that all employees work in accordance with all Company policies and procedures and document and report immediately any violations to the Plant Manager
  • Work in accordance with all Health and Safety policies and procedures and promote and maintain a safe work environment
  • Follow and practice all GMP's, SOP's, HACCP and SQF protocols
  • Demonstrate equipment operations and work and safety procedures to new employees, or assign employees to experienced workers for training
  • Read and analyze charts, work orders, production schedules and other records / reports to determine production requirements and to evaluate current production estimates and outputs
  • Track operations key performance indicators (KPIs) and take corrective action in case of any deviation
  • Conduct training to improve employee performance and company culture
  • Create operations related SOPs
  • Prepare and submit operational reports
  • Oversee field operations, including staffing, scheduling, developing materials management, setting and communicating objectives, ensuring quality standards are met, and resolving problems
  • Perform other duties as required

Education, Experience & Competency Requirements:


  • University degree in a business technical field.
  • 5 years experience as a production / operations supervisor
  • Production experience in the food industry is preferred
  • Direct working knowledge of plant operations
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • First Aid skills and/or certificates are considered assets
  • Able to maintain filing systems, databases, and minutes management
  • Knowledge of labour legislation and the occupational health and safety act
  • Knowledge of GMP's, SOP's, HACCP and SQF principles is preferred
  • Excellent analytical and problemsolving skills
  • Proven ability to motivate individuals and team to achieve high standards of productivity and quality
  • Strong ability to organize and prioritize departmental workloads through effective delegation and followup
  • Strong written and verbal skills to communicate with all levels of the organization and its executive team
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate employees
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent mathematical and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities simultaneously in order to meet deadlines
  • Able to work in a fastpaced work environment and have good attention to detail
  • Strong knowledge of continuous improvement tools and methodology
  • ERP experience is preferred
