Description

The QC Technician works cross-functionally with the QC Manager and Plant Manager ensuring products meet the quality standards and food safety requirements of the Company and its Customers.

To proactively coordinate the fundamentals of GMP, HACCP and audit programs, provide support to the plant employees, and assist with the implementation, monitoring and follow-up of quality assurance strategies and programs in all aspects of the production process.


Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

  • Support overall compliance to Food Safety and Quality System Program and HACCP Program, ensuring all Quality Assurance activities in the facility are appropriately executed under CFIA and BRC standards.
  • Ensure company GMP, HACCP, OHSA-WHIMS Policies are strictly followed at all times.
  • Conduct employee food safety training programs: GMP, CCP, FIFO, Allergen, Receiving-Shipping.
  • Mentoring employee behavior for GMP's and employee safety.
  • Monitor production processing protocols, ensuring compliance with written Manuals, SOP's, records, work orders, waste water reports, monthly KPI's, trending reports, allergen program, ingredient/packaging database, equipment calibration.
  • Enforce cross-contamination prevention protocols by ensuring employees use clean equipment and utensils at all times.
  • Ensure employees follow production recipes as per customer requirements, and complete production records accurately.
  • Ensure employees use correct revision records, with accurate and timely completion per daily production schedule.
  • Ensure correct labels are used on all customer product in compliance with CFIA requirements.

HACCP:
GMP's, SOP's, CCP's, Labelling, etc.


  • Conduct line monitoring for Critical Control Point and complete documentation, i.e. proofing temperature, oil temperature, cooling line temperature, freezer temperature, metal detector.
  • Coordinate and direct the plant Sanitation Program, together with Plant Manager, overseeing the production, sanitation and maintenance crews.
  • Complete work orders for maintenance and sanitation, follow-up to ensure completion.
  • Coordinate with chemical and pest control service providers.
  • Monitor receiving-shipping activities ensuring compliance with FIFO principles.
  • Ensure employees respect FIFO principles for storage of all production ingredients.
  • Ensure that all finished product meets company quality and safety standards.
  • Assist the QC Manager and Plant Manager in the investigation of complaints and food safety incident
