A casual summer program Educational Assistant - Special Needs (EASN) is required to assist with all ASPIRE program
activities. The ASPIRE program strives to promote literacy and numeracy skills, along with recreational activities for
Kindergarten - Grade 5 students. Duties include supporting recreational activities, assisting with bussing, helping with field
trips outside the school setting, assisting in the classroom, aiding in breakfast and lunch implementation.





REQUIRED AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

-

Experience working with students with autism

  • Experience with augmented communication preferred
  • Completion of Educational Assistant/Para Educator program or related area of postsecondary education is required
  • Completion of Working Effectively with Violent and Aggressive Students (WEVAS) or equivalent training is strongly
preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a planning team
  • Strong problem solving skills and ability to interpret situations accurately and act accordingly
  • Positive attitude, outlook, and work ethic
  • Ability to develop good relationships with students on a onetoone basis and in groups
  • Ability to support students to problem solve and work through issues
  • Good organizational skills and ability to follow directions
  • Good interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills
