Your opportunity:

Under general direction of one Principal Investigator (Dr. Lisa McCarthy), the Research Officer will have the opportunity to work on a variety of research projects related to focused on reducing medication-related harm and optimizing people's experiences with their medications, through approaches like deprescribing and optimizing care transitions.


The Research Officer will work as part of a multivariate stakeholder environment both independently and as part of collaborative multi-disciplinary focused research groups supporting various projects.

This support includes coordinating project logistics and timelines, communicating with various internal and external stakeholders, and managing data collection and analyses of various research studies within Dr.

McCarthy's portfolio.


Your responsibilities will include:


  • Assessing needs and contributing to the planning of research goals
  • Assessing and selecting methods of data collection and analysis for research projects
  • Developing project schedules including milestones, critical path, timelines, deliverables and reporting
  • Overseeing the data collection and analysis processes
  • Drafting documents for knowledge translation purposes
  • Drafting and submitting documented procedures to the Research Ethics Board (REB) for approval
  • Conducting systematic literature reviews
  • Planning and estimating financial resources required for programs and/or projects
  • Directing the activities of casual staff

Qualifications:


Essential Qualifications:


  • Master's Degree in health sciences or social science, health services research, public health,
or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Minimum five years of experience coordinating research projects multisite research projects focused on healthcare across several provinces
  • Experience working with and knowledge of health care systems across Canada
  • Experience with behaviour/implementational sciences frameworks and principles
  • Experience with qualitative research methods (focus groups, interviews)
  • Experience conducting knowledge syntheses, particularly scoping and rapid reviews including devising and implementing search and selection strategies and conducting document reviews
  • Experience drafting summaries of research results and preparing presentation materials,
reports and documents for knowledge translation purposes

  • Demonstrated experience coordinating research projects, advising on project design, and
implementing mixed methods evaluations featuring advanced qualitative research methods and descriptive quantitative research methods

  • Effective project coordination, time management and organizational skills, including ability to prioritize and manage several projects simultaneously
  • High Proficiency with MS Office Suite such as Word, PowerPoint, SharePointand Excel
  • Proficiency with research management and analysis software such as NVivo, SPSS, Covidence, Zotero
  • Effective analytical skills and strong initiative and commitment to research work
  • Strong communication (written & verbal) and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders
