Short Summary:


The Community and Education Program Assistant will be responsible facilitating events in the Downsview Park Hub and assisting in opportunities that help to promote the Park.

The primary focus of this position is to act as a community liaison and provide customer service within the Downsview Park Hub under the supervision of the Manager, Education and Community Programs.


  • Support the mission of Downsview Park in building and maintaining partnerships with community members.
  • Act as a resource and support for Park Ambassador volunteers during their shifts
  • Support Park users during high traffic times (evenings/weekends)
  • Assist Park users with permits and bookings
  • Facilitate the set up and cleanup of the Hub space and other customer service focused duties related to the Hub bookings,
  • Monitor and track Hub use and look for ways of further developing the community space.
  • Assist with Downsview Park community events, as needed.
  • Opportunities may be available to assist with Downsview Park Education programming.
  • Perform other duties as may be required.
  • Acts as a liaison between the Park and the public regarding information about the Park.

Qualifications:

Post-secondary student or graduate, within the following, or similar fields of study:
 Education/ECE
 Recreation
 Environmental studies
 Social Work
 Urban Planning

  • One or more years of customer service experience required.
  • In addition to English conversational ability in one or more of the languages (Spanish, Italian, Tagalog, Vietnamese, or Portuguese) is considered a strong asset
  • Bilingual (French/English) is a strong asset
  • Community outreach, program delivery and/or camp experience would be considered an asset.
  • First Aid and CPR certification an asset

Working Conditions:


  • Ability to work flexible hours, as needed
  • Able to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines, conflicting demands, frequent interruptions, and heavy work loads.
  • Must be able to work in a physical capacity requiring extended periods of standing, moderate lifting, pushing, pulling, bending and reaching.
  • This role is primarily evenings and weekends
  • Work environment includes inoffice, inclassroom and outdoors; must be comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions for prolonged periods of timeWHAT WE DO
