    Position Title:

    Design & Engineering Manager

    Work Term:

    Permanent- Full Time

    Working Hours: 39 hours per week total

    Monday-Thursday: 8:00am – 4:30pm

    Friday: 8:00am – 3:30pm

    Working Location:

    This is a 100% in office role at our office: 5145 Timberlea Blvd. Mississauga, ON.

    Job Description:

    The Design & Engineering Manager is responsible for leading and managing the staff and processes of our design & Engineering department, they will also lead the creative vision for our current and perspective clients. The role will require a vast knowledge of, mechanical engineering, the retail industry, design trends and industrial design.

    Creating innovative designs with both 2D and 3D models, with consideration towards cost, budget, client requirements, while implementing best practice engineering vision, strategy, policies, processes, and procedures to aid and improve operational performance.

    Needs to be able to work with a broad spectrum of departments, overseeing the initial concept design for various projects and sales presentation requirements.

    Job Responsibilities and Requirements: With a wide variety of project and client demands happening, your role will be varied and may include any of the following:

    People Management/Leadership

    • Experienced in managing staff project scheduling, enforcing deadlines, motivating and coaching staff
    • A "lead by example" mentality
    • Experience in onboarding and training new staff
    • Continually provides feedback that allows staff to achieve
    • You will direct all aspects of our design process (client meetings, renderings, technical drawings) and assign projects to our team as required

    Engineering

    • Has significant industrial design knowledge, knows how to build things, will "find a way to make it work" when engineering items for fabrication
    • Experience in plastics, millwork and metal is an asset
    • Ability to accurately check and markup technical drawings for revisions

    Concept Design

    • Working with our VP of Sales & Design along with our sales staff, you will create new concepts and renderings from general sketches to create fully realized designs for our clients.
    • Interpret client and sales staff requests, add graphic elements, etc.
    • Creating new fixture designs based on current retail trends while remaining attuned to the needs of our current customers

    Presentations

    · Creating detailed Powerpoint presentations for us to present to perspective clients, communicating your designs clearly, highlighting fixture features and benefits

    · Using AI as an ideation tool and showing some of your work in these presentations

    · Communicating with salespeople for revisions and changes as required

    · Will continue to innovate new technology to ensure Pragernuform remains competitive as an industry leaders

    Meetings

    · Attend monthly sales meetings for pipeline awareness

    · Will have a weekly check-in with VP of Sales & Design to review overall department performance and workload

    · Attend monthly sales and design collaboration meeting, presenting new work

    Job Requirements

    · A minimum of 5-10 years of experience in the retail/display industry

    · A minimum of 5 years of people management experience

    · Must be Proficient/Advanced in: SOLIDWORKS, Keyshot, Abode Suite (Photoshop, illustrator), Microsoft Office, Clickup

    · Vast retail knowledge

    · Punctual, able to manage time effectively

    · Can ideate and design at a fast pace

    · Proactively contribute to creating a good team atmosphere

    · Anticipates and overcomes obstacles

    · Confident, creative thinking

    · Collaborative, resilient, optimistic and open to feedback
