Staging Crew to join their team


Job Description:


Under general supervision, the
Staging Crew is responsible for maneuvering furniture and executing setup (including equipment) for all events at Hart House by providing excellent customer service in a timely manner.


Responsibilities and Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Full setup, operation and striking of in-house furnishings and staging equipment for all room and event services.
  • Performs maintenance functions such as minor adjustment to furniture and equipment.
  • Ensures proper storage and care of all furniture and equipment.
  • Ensures proper health and safety procedures are followed.
  • Ensures highest degrees of customer service and client facing standards representing both Hart House and UofT.
  • Performs routine and special room setups, which entail:
  • Following work orders, diagrams and verbal instruction.
  • Moving and setting up of furniture and equipment according to plan and event schedule time requirements.
  • Ensures proper security and safety of all event and storage areas.
  • The degree to which each employee performs each of the tasks will vary according to the daily event schedule and department needs.
Job Requirements

  • Heavy lifting and maneuvering of all furniture and equipment.
  • Considerable walking, moving, staying "onthego".
  • Communication and customer service skills:
  • The ability to communicate effectively, professionally and courteously to both colleagues and customers, both written and in person.
  • Ability to take and follow direction from supervisors and managers.
  • Ability to work independently and s elfmanage when necessary.
  • Necessary to make quick judgement calls which sometime go against initial plan.
  • Some level of customer service or client care experience is an asset.
  • Previous experience in events or hospitality is an asset.

Availability Requirements: Must be able to work between 6:30 am and Midnight, Monday through Sunday (occasionally outside of these hours when needed).

Schedule Details: Shifts are scheduled weekly and are based on booked event demand to a maximum of 24 hours per week, with an expectation the successful applicant(s) provide at least 16 hours available for work per week for the duration of the contract.


Job Types:
Part-time, Casual

Part-time hours: 10-20 per week


Salary:
From $15.50 per hour
