We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Superintendent to join our growing team.

Reporting to the Construction Manager, the Mechanical Superintendent in conjunction with the Site Superintendent is responsible for the day-to-day management of the construction site focusing on the mechanical scopes of work.

This position is located in Port Hope, Ontario


What you will be doing:

  • Initiates, coordinates, directs, and schedules site personnel to ensure project objectives are met.
  • Assist with the optimizations of mechanical and electrical design drawings.
  • Assist in preparation and negotiation of mechanical and electrical subcontracts.
  • Implements and manages the Bird Safety Program; performs regular hazard analysis and toolbox meetings.
  • Ensures sufficient manpower is provided to achieve safety, productivity, and quality objectives.
  • Prepares overall work plan and schedule in conjunction with Site Superintendent and Project Manager.
  • Reviews and provides assistance regarding the required quality assurance and control plan.
  • Monitors all site instructions and change notices and makes adjustments as required.
  • Assist with commissioning process, building turnover and closeout documentation.

What are we looking for:

  • A degree and/or related trade experience in building mechanical systems is required.
  • 510 years' experience in the construction industry working with contractors with relevant work experience in a similar role.
  • Indepth knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems and how they integrate with construction elements. Experience with industrial and process mechanical, electrical and controls considered an asset.
  • Effectively provide overall supervision, coordination and scheduling of construction activities and consistently complete projects on time, on budget and to the client's satisfaction.
  • Demonstrated competence in the areas of safety, workforce management, project execution, cost control, quality, and administration.
  • A strong leader and problemsolver, you are able to build and steward trust with clients, subcontractors, and team members to effect competitive excellence and pride in teamwork with outstanding project delivery.
  • Local market construction experience and be willing to consider traveling within Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Northwest Ontario with the possibility of temporary relocation.
  • Demonstrated competence in the areas of safety, workforce management, project execution, cost control, quality, and administration.
  • Sound knowledge of construction and building techniques is required.
  • Gold Seal, LEED and Sustainability Training will be considered an asset.
  • Experience in using BIM models will be considered an asset.
