With 489 Guestrooms, 36000 sqft of Event space, 26thfloor Concierge Lounge, SPIN Kitchen & Bar, a Starbucks and crowned by our rotating rooftop Summit venue, we are the tallest hotel in the City and second-largest hotel overall.


Owned by InnVest Hotels, Canada's largest owner & operator of hotels and focused exclusively on hospitality, Marriott Ottawa is preparing to begin a transformative, top to bottom renovation of all guestrooms, meeting and event space as well as all public areas, commencing in 2023, positioning the hotel to continue its storied legacy of hospitality excellence.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE:


Managing Event Logistics and Operations

  • Ensures that events progress seamlessly by following established procedures, collaborating with other employees, and ensuring accuracy.
  • Greets customers during the event phase and handsoff to the Event Operations team for the execution of details.
  • Ensures billing accuracy and conducts bill reviews with the clientsl.
  • Manages group room blocks and meeting space for all sizes of assigned groups, including updating forecasts of sleeping rooms and catering revenue.
  • Uses judgment to integrate current trends in event management and design.
  • Liaison between the sales manager and customer throughout the event process.
  • Participates in site inspections and assists with the sales process as necessary.
  • Solicits feedback from the property departments to identify areas for improvement to enhance the Event Planner's experience.
  • Executing detailed and accurate event orders to ensure delivery of the hotel's promised services.
  • Distribution of event Orders to the clients and hotel departments.

Ensuring and Providing Exceptional Customer Service

  • Delivers excellent customer service throughout the customer experience and encourages the same from other employees.
  • Sets a positive example for guest relations.
  • Coordinates and communicates event details both verbally and in writing to the customer and property operations.
  • Follows up with customer postevent.
  • Responds to and handles guest problems and complaints.
  • Uses personal judgment and expertise to enhance the customer experience.
  • Stays available to solve problems and suggest alternatives to previous arrangements.
  • Emphasizes guest satisfaction during all departmental meetings and focuses on continuous improvement.
  • Interacts with guests to obtain feedback on product quality and service levels.

Conducting Guest Service Activities

  • Reviews comment cards and guest satisfaction results with employees.
  • Observes service behaviors of employees and provide feedback.
  • Take initiative to use experience to improve service performance according to his/her evaluation of the issue and resolution.
  • Works with the property staff and customers to address operational challenges
  • Other reasonable duties as required.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

Education/Experience and skills_

  • Completed Bachelor's Degree and/or Hotel Management degree an asset
  • Minimum of 2 years of hotel event experience or similar environment required.
  • Knowledge of CI/TY, and other Marriott Systems.
  • Proficient in Windows, Word/Excel, and presentation development.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and spoken.

  • Bilingualism (English & French) is a definite asset.
  • Highly motivated and guest driven with a proven ability to solve problems and make timely guest service decisions.
  • Proactive and able to manage multiple functions and projects while meeting deadlines.
  • A strong team player that is results oriented.
  • Will be required to work nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Will be required to work in fast paced environment.
