    Description

    Your Opportunity:

    This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and skilled addiction and mental health professional to be a member of the interdisciplinary Assertive Community Treatment Team (ACT). Reporting to the Care Manager, the Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse will provide assertive, client focused, culturally appropriate, evidenced-based, recovery-oriented care to adults experiencing severe and persistent mental illness, addictions and houselessness. ACT works primarily with individuals whose illness presents a barrier to engagement in treatment. Clinical services are most often delivered through outreach services in the community and in partnership and collaboration with clients, families, other AHS providers, inner city agencies, and community programs. Nurses in ACT are expected to work to full scope within a team case management environment. The ideal candidate will have excellent knowledge of addiction and mental health disorders with experience providing assessment and treatment for these complex needs and be able to navigate the health system to ensure the coordination of services to best meet the client's needs. This candidate will be able to multitask and effectively manage multiple priorities and demands. This candidate will have a good working knowledge of legislation regarding mental health care including the Alberta Mental Health Act and Community Treatment Orders (CTO).

    As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $ - $ Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article or (ii) as applicable.     Required Qualifications:

    Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (

    Extensive knowledge of the resources of Addiction and Mental Health and the community.A strong understanding of client resources in the community and knowledge of mental health legislation including Community Treatment Orders is an asset. Demonstrated ability to work well with a range of community and agency stakeholders as well as clients and families.
