The Opportunity:

Terra's Construction Safety Officer is safety-orientated, organized, experienced, has construction knowledge, and has excellent communication skills.
Terra's Construction Safety Officer is competent, helpful, reliable and a team player. If selected to join us, you would be reporting to Terra's Human Resources & Safety Manager.


A day in the life of a Construction Safety Officer - roles and responsibilities:

  • Assists with implementing and monitoring Safety Plans, including participation in job site safety reviews, inspections, toolbox meetings, and safety training
  • Assists in the preparation of purchase orders for the site in question
  • Control and oversee the SALUS app with all things site related. Ensure compliance of staff for daily FLHA's, machine Pre-Trips, Toolbox talks, Site Inspections, etc.
  • Stock and maintain all inventory on site. Organize and accept deliveries for the site. Be point of contact for site for all safety related deliveries
  • Maintain COR safety program requirements at the job site
  • Maintain and execute any safety orientations for the staff coming to site
  • Monitor safety form submission statistics and report back to Human Resource & Safety Manager on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis. Help follow up with field to ensure compliances are met
  • Acts as a liaison and coordinator between operations and field crews with regards to the specific site
  • Prepares and maintains a variety of materials such as records, technical and status reports, correspondence. reviews all submitted safety documents from the field and approves or investigates discrepancies
  • Conducts field inspections; ensures that all work is performed in accordance with Terra and OH&S regulations
  • Establishes and maintains liaison with a variety of internal and external contacts; provides information direction and assistance to other department staff. Updates policies and related matters; coordinates and attends all site meetings
  • Attend and take minutes at site safety meetings as needed or as requested
  • Assist in field safety investigations as needed or as requested
**Qualifications

  • You have a safety background and minimum 3 years of on site construction safety experience
  • You have excellent organizational skills
  • You are committed to being reliable and dedicated
  • You are a team player
  • Level 2 first Aid certificate required, level 3 preferred
  • Certified Construction Safety Officer (CSO) or (NCSO) designation preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, project teams and subtrades
  • Strong knowledge of construction specifications, methods and procedures
  • Strong English communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Legally entitled to work for any employer in Canada
