    Job Summary


    The Customs Bond Analyst is responsible for working with customers and managing shipments and assets.

    The role is also accountable for the development of an overall plan for each account, which includes validation of processes and communications to ensure customer needs can be executed within the parameters of the operating model.

    The incumbent ensures the successful delivery of customers' shipments in a cost-effective manner.


    Main Responsibilities



    Logistics



    • Evaluate and coordinate the logistical task requirements associated with handling bonded shipments for customers
    • Coordinate priorities when demand exceeds availability or impacts operations
    • Develop and analyze on a monthly basis performance metrics for internal and external use
    • Implement action plans to improve service delivery to customers
    • Ensure bonds are opened and closed out on time at ports and terminals to mitigate penalties
    • Coordinate between Canada and the United States (US) Customs to ensure that bonds are processed in a timely manner to mitigate demurrage
    • Ensure significant financial impact for any error in judgement or communication to the US or Canadian Customs authorities
    • Ensure customer compliance with government regulation
    • Coordinate the movement between internal and external customers

    Bonds and Supply Chain Improvements



    • Transmit bonds to Canada and US Customs
    • Monitor and track bond movement and coordinate customs exams
    • Identify and act on opportunities to improve or streamline the supply chain process

    Coordination



    • Coordinate import documentation between clients and their agents to ensure smooth traffic movement
    • Prepare E-Manifest documents for drivers
    • Communicate with Dispatch and drivers regarding cargo and carrier reporting
    • Keep driver and truck database up to date
    Inbound Movements and Declarations


    • Manage and coordinate inbound movements for Canadian National Transport LTD (CNTL), Warehouse (WW), and Mexico Rail shipments
    • Manage Customs Export Reporting System (CERS) portal for clients
    • Prepare and provide CERS declarations and monthly summary reports

    Working Conditions


    The role has standard working conditions in an office environment with a regular workweek from Monday to Friday. The incumbent must be available to work night shifts and weekends when necessary. The role requires being available on-call 24/7 to respond to critical incidences.

    Due to the nature of the role, the incumbent must be able to meet tight deadlines, handle pressure and manage stress.


    Requirements



    Experience


    Customs Bond


    • Minimum 5 years of experience in customs bond

    Education/Certification/Designation



    • Post Secondary Degree
    • Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) designation
    • Licensed Customs Broker (LCB)
    *Any designation for these above would be considered as an asset

    Technical Skills/Knowledge



    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel
    • Knowledge of all aspects of a brokerage office such as customs clearance issues, government agencies requirements, billing, or record keeping
