YMCA of Southwestern Ontario is one of the largest not-for-profit providers of licensed childcare in
Canada, offers settlement services to newcomers to Canada, operates 2 overnight camps and 16 Health
& Fitness branches across Southwestern Ontario, and we have been making a positive difference in the
communities we serve for over 50 years


Position:
Temporary Contract - Communications Manager


Location:
London, ON (Wortley Village) + hybrid/flex work model


Start Date:
July, Minimum 3 months with possibility for extension.


Salary:
$50k
annually (Mon-Fri / 40hrs a week) NOTE duration above.***
In this role, you will:
  • Reporting to the VP of Marketing + Communications, plan and manage Association
Communications Calendar with collaboration of internal stakeholders

  • Create copy and draft content (e.g. press releases) for mass media or association website
  • Provide support on crisis management, not otherwise being managed by VP of Marcomm
  • Perform regular reconciliations/audits of audiences to ensure information is accurate and in
- compliance with CASL requirements
  • Plan and oversee communication execution for all fundraising events (i.e., Women of Excellence,
  • SWEAT, Strong Kids, Jordan's Run)
  • Collaborate with Marketing to produce copy for advertisements or articles
  • Contribute to monthly management report and deliver positive results within Marcomm KPI

  • Continuously investigate evolving digital trends to determine most effective tools for the Y
  • Review and edit all communications delivered internally and externally to ensure tone of voice
- and messaging is accurate, on brand and story of the Y is shared consistently and accurately

Education and Skills Qualifications:


  • BA in English and/or communication studies or related field
  • Postsecondary education or experience in public relations
  • 5 years marketing and communications experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills & strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong computer/digital skills
  • Ability to plan, organize and prioritize work to manage multiple demands and deadlines
  • Comfort with website content management systems and blog writing
  • Reliable transportation to facilitate travel between branches required
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada
