The Position:

In support of the Vision, Mission and Values of LutherCare Communities, and with funding from Canada Summer Jobs, we are seeking (2) Summer Grounds/Maintenance Workers to join our team.

The Summer Grounds/Maintenance Worker works in conjunction with Senior Maintenance to ensure in-suite repairs, grounds keeping and mechanical equipment are maintained.

This position is only available to youth who:

is between the age of 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment;

- is a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act; and
- is legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations;

International students are not eligible. Recent immigrants are eligible if they are Canadian Citizens or permanent residents.

The Applicant:
This position will provide day-to-day support to the Senior Maintenance Worker that includes:

Interior and exterior cleaning
Handyman jobs
Landscaping (includes planting and growing plants)
Lawn mowing, tree trimming
Painting
Data Entry in a Maintenance Software System
Interacting with seniors
Minor repairs (faucets, toilets, changing locks etc.)
Operating equipment/machinery (lawn mower, leaf blower, hedge trimmers etc.)
Other duties as assigned by the Senior Maintenance Worker and/or Housing Manager.

Sufficient practical experience to perform the duties is required and experience working with seniors is an asset.

Applicants must be able to read, write, speak and understand English fluently, have knowledge of the safe operation and maintenance of hand/power tools and grounds keeping equipment as well as basic knowledge of carpentry.

Applicants must be physically able to perform job duties.
