We are looking for an Intermediate Systems Administrator to expand our growing IT team Reporting to our IT Team Lead, you will be responsible for analyzing and operating various Certn IT owned systems and will play a key part in on-boarding and off-boarding processes.

As our Intermediate Systems Administrator, you will be responsible for managing how our people interact with our assets, engage with our systems, and use our tools to communicate.- Success in the role requires someone with a problem solver mindset, strong collaboration skills, the ability to work autonomously and a love for administering various systems.

Certn's team members can be found across Canada and the U.S and are well-adapted to the remote lifestyle, however for this role we are looking for someone who is eligible to work in Canada and who can travel to our Victoria, BC office approximately 30% of the time.


As our Intermediate Systems Administrator, you will:

  • Be a key escalation point for operational issues and provide enduser support across different time zones.
  • Procure, provision and maintain company owned Windows and MacOS workstations.
  • Ensure system security through access control, backup, and network firewalls.
  • Configure, maintain and monitor backup systems for proper functionality.
  • Follow proper disaster recovery strategies in case of system failures and cyberattacks.
  • Lead projects independently including the roll out and continuous support of new IT system integrations across Certn and its subsidiaries.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to build and effectively deploy internal training and technical documentation, manuals, and IT policies.

We are hoping you bring:

  • University or College degree in Software Engineering, IT Management or Systems Administration.
  • 3 to 4 years experience in systems administration and systems configuration.
  • Experience managing tasks and workload using Jira or similar project management solutions.
  • Experience with systems analysis, collecting requirements and required information regarding system configuration.
  • Experience working in Google Workspace, MDM systems, Okta, and JumpCloud.
  • Experience in Mac and Windows operating systems.
  • Experience with programming (troubleshooting, APIs) would be considered an asset.
