Job Description:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Recreation Therapy Aide Instructor to join our team.
As a Recreation Therapy Aide Instructor, you will be responsible for providing instruction and guidance to individuals interested in pursuing a career as a recreation therapy aide.
Your role will involve teaching, training, and mentoring students, as well as assessing their progress and ensuring they acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in their future careers.
Responsibilities:
Develop Curriculum:
Design and develop a comprehensive curriculum for the recreation therapy aide training program, including lesson plans, training materials, and assessment tools.
Conduct Training Sessions:
Deliver engaging and interactive training sessions to students, covering topics such as therapeutic techniques, patient assessment, activity planning, documentation, and safety protocols.
Demonstrate Techniques:
Teach students various recreation therapy techniques and interventions through practical demonstrations, role-playing exercises, and case studies.
Provide Individualized Instruction:
Assess each student's learning needs and provide personalized instruction to help them grasp concepts and skills effectively.
Supervise Practical Sessions:
Oversee students during practical sessions, ensuring they adhere to industry standards, follow safety protocols, and demonstrate competence in delivering recreation therapy interventions.
Offer Feedback and Evaluation:
Regularly provide constructive feedback to students on their performance, offering guidance on areas for improvement and recognizing their strengths.
Facilitate Discussions and Q&A:
Encourage class participation, lead group discussions, and answer students' questions to enhance their understanding and critical thinking skills.
Monitor Progress:
Track and monitor students' progress throughout the program, maintaining accurate records of attendance, grades, and evaluations.
Stay Updated:
Stay informed about the latest developments, trends, and best practices in recreation therapy, continually updating your knowledge and incorporating relevant updates into the curriculum.
Collaborate with Team:
Collaborate with other instructors, program coordinators, and healthcare professionals to ensure a cohesive learning experience and alignment with industry standards.
Requirements:
Education:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Recreation Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation, or a related field. Certification as a Recreation Therapist is highly desirable.
Experience:
A minimum of 3 years of experience working as a Recreation Therapist or in a related role, preferably with experience in teaching, training, or mentoring.
Knowledge:
In-depth knowledge of recreation therapy principles, techniques, and interventions. Familiarity with therapeutic modalities, patient assessment, treatment planning, and documentation practices.
Communication Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex concepts to students and engage them in discussions.
Teaching Skills:
Strong instructional and presentation skills, with the ability to deliver training sessions in a clear, organized, and engaging manner.
Interpersonal Skills:
Demonstrated ability to build rapport with students, provide constructive feedback, and motivate them to achieve their full potential.
Organizational Skills:
Effective organizational and time management skills to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage a classroom setting efficiently.
Adaptability:
Flexible and adaptable to accommodate different learning styles, adjust teaching methods as needed, and respond to students' diverse needs.
Professionalism:
Exemplary professional conduct and ethical standards, maintaining confidentiality and acting as a positive role model for students.
Computer Proficiency:
Proficiency in using educational technology, learning management systems, and computer software relevant to instruction and assessment.
