Powerline Maintainer/ Street Lighting Technician

Working Conditions:
Permanent Position

40 hours/week, Monday through Friday

Occasional overtime may be required

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Perform replacement, repair and maintenance on street light equipment, hardware, and infrastructure as required
  • Maintain and repair electrical distribution, including conduits, cables, wires, circuit breakers, for street lighting
  • Maintain accurate records of job scope and completed work (Using a Tablet)
  • Erect and maintain steel, wood or concrete poles and wires
  • Operate an RBD truck and aerial truck work
  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Respond to oncall duties when required
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, skills and abilities:


  • Journeyperson Power Line Technician Certificate or recognized equivalent (Apprentices may be taken into consideration); The Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges & Universities Power Line Technician Certificate (or equivalent)
  • Previous experience in the street light industry would be an asset
  • IMSA Street lighting Level 1 and Level 2 certification will be an asset
  • Ability to operate equipment, such as RBD and aerial trucks as well as comfortable with using technology
  • Excellent organizational, planning skills, time management and prioritization skills with the ability to juggle demands and meet deadlines
  • Excellent decisionmaking ability and problemsolving skills
  • Proven ability as a team player
  • Ability to complete tasks including heavy lifting required; bending, kneeling, standing for extended periods of time
  • Proficient in understanding and reading blueprints

$47.05 per hour
