Scarfone Hawkins LLP is an established and growing law firm seeking a talented Law Clerk/Legal Assistant to join Scarfone Hawkins LLP.

We are looking for a Clerk/Assistant to join our Commercial Real Estate and Development practice group. If you are a new Law Clerk or Legal Assistant looking for an opportunity to learn and grow in a fast-paced environment with a dynamic team, we want to hear from you


Hours of Work: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Additional Hours maybe required based on operational needs
What you will be doing
- drafting purchase, sale and mortgage documents
- liaising with lawyers and accounting department to complete day of closing administration

  • Reporting to clients and lenders
  • Drafting and registering a variety of land registration documents, including, Applications, Charges and Discharges, Condominium bylaws, Easements, Notices, Restrictions, and Transfers in both Registry and Land Titles system
  • Preparing standard builder documents using builder software programs, liaising with lawyers, purchasers and consultants to complete subdivision and condominium project closings
  • Reporting to Tarion and Excess Condominium Deposit Insurers regarding purchases deposit compliance.
  • Adhere to all company's policies, guidelines and statutory/legislative requirements
  • Attend and participate in team and supervision meetings
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Who you are

  • Relevant Post Secondary Education preferably Law Clerk Program
  • Commercial Real Estate/Development experience is an assets but not required
  • Role up your sleeves, proactive & positive attitude
  • Recognize and respect people's diversity, individual differences and perspectives
  • Be willing to continuously learn and grow
  • Be willing to work independently and part of a team
  • Strong timemanagement, organizational and document/file management skills;
  • Highly organized and detail oriented
  • Demonstrated knowledge or experience with Conveyancer/Unity, Teraview, and MSWord.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
