Scientific & Regulatory Manager (C1)

How you will make an impact at Intertek:

  • As a Scientific & Regulatory Manager you will provide scientific support to our senior consultants and may include client facing roles related to facilitating the premarket approval procedure for novel food ingredients in the United States and globally.
  • Review reports written by others that are to be incorporated into the project. The reports (final reports) are reviewed in detail by the Manager/Senior Scientist.
  • Develop and monitor budget and timelines with respect to amount of work remaining; proactively work with or as Project Manager (and client as needed) if there may be possible budget over run.
  • Support development of junior staff: ensure toxicologists review research papers carefully to extract both metabolic and strict toxicity information as well as to identify any other potential avenues of research; review work of toxicologists, assisting them to assess risks; and help toxicologists develop scientific writing skills.
  • Communicate with client as needed, requesting information or explaining the planned course of action.
  • Develop relationships with existing clients and identifies business opportunities through these relationships.

What it takes to be successful in this role:

  • Experience in drafting, submitting, and/or reviewing FDA submissions within the food industry preferred. Knowledge and practical experience with U.S. FDA's Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS) regulatory program for premarket clearance of new food ingredients would be considered an asset.
  • Experience in drafting toxicology manuscripts for publication in scientific journals.
  • Subject matter expertise in FDA food safety frameworks.
  • Additional specialization in an area of toxicology, molecular biology, physiology, metabolism, pharmacology, chemistry, and regulatory knowledge will be an asset.
  • Knowledge of bioinformatic analyses tools is desirable but not required.

  • Ability to work remotely (home based) or in an office in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada.
