The Accounting Officer is an important role within Healthcare/Finance that holds everything together, incredibly well-rounded and can step in at any given time when needed.

As The Account Officer, a typical day might include the following:

  • Calculate, prepare and issue documents related to accounts such as bills, invoices, inventory reports, account statements and other financial statements using computerized and manual systems
  • Code, total, batch, enter, verify and reconcile transactions such as accounts payable and receivable, payroll, purchase orders, cheques, invoices, cheque requisitions, and bank statements in a ledger or computer system
  • Compile budget data and documents based on estimated revenues and expenses and previous budgets
  • Prepare period or cost statements or reports
  • Calculate costs of materials, overhead and other expenses based on estimates, quotations, and price lists
  • Respond to clients inquiries, maintain good customer relations and solve problems
  • Perform related clerical duties, such as word processing, maintaining filing and record systems, faxing and photocopying.
  • Facilitating internal and external communications in a timely and professional manner
  • Assume responsibility for timekeeping and tracking time off requests
  • Collaborate with the payroll team to ensure the accuracy of employee compensation
  • Encouraging the generation of new ideas and process improvements
  • Actively sharing knowledge and experience to enhance the development of all team members
  • Providing administrative support to ensure efficient operations
  • Working in a professional manner with affiliated businesses as needed
  • Building effective working relationships across the team and with corporate head office
  • Maintaining a high level of client service standards
  • Facilitating a culture of open and honest communication
  • Actively participating and contributing to team meetings

Employment requirements:

  • Completion of secondary school is usually required.
  • Completion of college or other courses certified by the Certified General Accountants
Association of Canada, Canadian Securities Institute or Canadian Bookkeepers Association may be required.

  • Computer literate at the intermediate to advanced level, with proficiency in the following softwares: Google Docs, Google Calendar, Google Sheets, Google Drive etc.
  • An individual with initiative and able to demonstrate a flexible approach in responding to needs as they arise;
  • Able to exercise discretion and tact with sensitive and confidential situations;
  • Able to manage multiple priorities and high attention to detail;
  • A team player and "people person" with exceptional customer service orientation as well as the ability to work independently, as required;
  • Someone with superior organizational skills, attention to detail and followthrough; and
  • An individual with excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Job Types:

Part-time hours: 40 per week


Salary:
$20.00-$21.50 per hour
