June 8, 202- Wastewater Facilities, the primary responsibilities of this role include:
Maintenance and repair of conveyor systems, air compressors, boilers, heating and ventilation, treatment process equipment, diesel generators and a variety of pumps, piping and valves;
Planning and performing preventative maintenance such as replacing equipment oil, seals, bearings, belts, filters, pump impellers, couplings, and diaphragms;
Planning and performing larger planned maintenance activities;
Performing maintenance and repairs to mobile equipment at CVWPCC and Biosolids Compost Facility, including front end loaders, dump trucks, windrow turner, forklifts, skid steer pumps and compressors;
Completing metal fabrication including welding of small parts, brackets, supports, bases, fittings, piping and miscellaneous components as required;
Maintaining an inventory of spare parts, equipment and lubricants;
Contributing to the upkeep of the computerized preventative maintenance system;
Coordinating with operators for the proper isolation of equipment;
Acquiring knowledge of the CVWPCC, sewage pumping stations, Biosolids Compost Facility, LTP and Flare for troubleshooting, record keeping and maintenance purposes;
Interpreting data from instrumentation and alarms, analyzing and troubleshooting problems and developing and implementing solutions;
Training operators and other contractors as required in proper maintenance procedures as it relates to their duties within the CVWPCC, Biosolids Compost Facility, LTP and Flare;
Coordinating maintenance activities with the Senior Operators(for startup, shut downs, routine inspections and emergency repairs);
Instructing operators on the technical operation of equipment to optimize equipment life and plant efficiency;
Performing a variety of general housekeeping duties (painting, cleaning, landscaping maintenance), miscellaneous carpentry and general handiwork at all assigned facilities;
Periodically providing instruction to junior-level operators and operators-in-training;
Providing relief coverage in the CVWPCC for the purposes of sick, vacation and other absences as required.

Knowledgeable in the procedures, bylaws, codes, regulations, methods, tools and equipment used to operate, maintain, and repair plant processes and equipment;
Knowledgeable in the operation, maintenance and repair of wet and dry pit sewage pump stations;
Safety-conscious with a demonstrated commitment to safe work practices;
Team oriented with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing;
Mechanically inclined with the ability to maintain and repair various process equipment;
Able to fabricate with metal with good working knowledge of welding ferrous and nonferrous metals;
Able to analyze and troubleshoot problems and implement effective solutions;
Certified in the trade of Millwright, Welder, Metal Fabricator, Pipefitter, Plumber or other related mechanical trade (Interprovincial Qualification/Red Seal) following related post-secondary education of over one up to two years and Grade 12 graduation (or equivalent);

Experienced in the operation, maintenance and repair of heavy industrial equipment and machinery, with over three up to and including four years of directly related experience including demonstrated skills in performing mechanical maintenance and repairs in an industrial setting (an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered).

Able to exercise sound judgement and independence when responding to emergency calls to get systems back online in a timely manner;
Able to use a computer and applicable software related to the work;
Able to meet the physical demands of the position including heavy lifting, working in awkward positions when performing repair work and installations, climbing, standing for long periods of time, working in confined spaces and working in an environment with continuous exposure to plant noise and chemicals used in water and wastewater treatment;
Flexible in working extra hours as needed including responding to emergency call-outs and working in inclement weather.

A valid BC Class 5 Driver's license and current First Aid certification (Level 1) is required for this role.


Other preferred qualifications include:

Environmental Operator Certification Program Wastewater Treatment certification (Level 1), a relevant dual industrial trade ticket, current Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System certification, Transportation of Dangerous Goods and confined space training and a valid BC Class 3 driver's license with air brake endorsement.
