Apex Geomatics is currently seeking
CAD Technicians to join our growing team.

We are hiring for site-based Fly-In/Fly-Out positions, as well as positions within the drafting department at our head office in Sherwood Park, AB.

Essential Responsibilities:

Interpretation of field notes, client drawings, and other background data to create accurate drawings and final deliverables.
Maintain strong lines of communication with field crews, clients and supervision.
Utilization of Civil 3D and Trimble Business Center (TBC).
Perform Survey Calculations.
Create stakeout files (DXF, CSV, and TTM).
Compute volumes and estimates, as well as create and manage volumetric surfaces.
Assist with the verification of drafting deliverables for accuracy, proper work methods, techniques, and compliance with applicable standards and specifications.
Adherence with quality assurance procedures and quality control practices.
Maintain the file and data storage system to the required standards.
Full compliance and active participation in the Apex Health and Safety Program.
As a representative of Apex, you are to conduct yourself with a professional, cordial attitude.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

Capabilities and Qualifications:

Diploma in Civil Engineering or Geomatics Technology is preferred.
5+ years of construction survey drafting.
Extensive experience working with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, TBC and Microsoft Office programs.
Working knowledge of construction drawings in various formats from engineers and architects within the industrial energy sector.
Highly skilled with regard to grading design and 3D modelling software. Experience extracting asbuilts of features from point cloud data using TBC or other point cloud managing software.
Ability to process orthomosaics and large point clouds an asset. Familiarity with Pix4d and other photogrammetry software for the purpose of generating orthomosaics and point clouds.
Technical competence and a strong attention to detail.
Excellent communication skills and a proven ability to collaborate with team members.
