Role Summary

Reporting to the General Manager, the Sales & Event Coordinator will support the Sales and Event Managers to ensure the successful organization and execution of both function and group activities within the hotel.

The Sales & Event Coordinator will communicate closely with the various hotel teams and external suppliers to make sure that all contract details are accurate and that expectations are met or exceeded.

In addition, the Sales & Event Coordinator will coordinate with the hotel sales and operations teams to ensure seamless execution of hotel events and group arrivals.

Key Accountabilities

  • Maintain an accurate and effective electronic database for the sales & catering departments.
  • Coordinate details for both catering events and group guest room blocks, including obtaining quotes and confirming orders with external suppliers.
  • Assist Sales Managers and Event Managers with property tours and tradeshows, familiarizing customers and potential customers with property features, products and services.
  • Prepare & distribute weekly group and event reports and event orders as well as communicate changes as necessary.
  • Participate in weekly sales and event meetings
  • Review and update daily reader board function information.
  • Maintain catering packages in collaboration with Head Chef and Catering Operations Manager.
  • Assemble sales collateral (i.e. brochures and promo items).
  • Process loyalty points as applicable.
  • Provide general administrative support to sales and hotel management team as required.
  • Complete other duties as required.
Education and Experience

  • 24 years of successful work experience in a hotel environment, preferably in sales, events, and/or food and beverage departments
  • Postsecondary hospitality education an asset

  • Demonstrate a superior customer service philosophy
  • Knowledge of food and beverage and sales processes
  • Excellent written, verbal, and listening skills
  • Ability to successfully handle many diverse projects simultaneously
  • Ability to effectively use business software including Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Gmail etc)
  • Experience with Marriott's Sales and Catering tools an asset
