    In accordance with established vision and values of the organization, this position provides pharmacy services to patients in Northern Health.

    As a member of an interprofessional team, this position assesses and recommends individualized treatments. Acts as the primary resource for drug information, education and provides expert advice to health care professionals. Monitors drug prescribing, drug distribution and drug therapy to ensure safe, effective, rational, legal and economic use of drugs. Maintains workload records and statistics.

    Shift Rotation/Hours of work: Monday to Friday / Days - 07:30 to 15:30, 08:00 to 16:00. Rotation will change to include weekend shifts.

    Prince Rupert Regional Hospital is the largest hospital in northwest BC with 27 acute care beds. They offer emergency services, ultrasound, CT scans, surgery, extended care, pediatrics, radiology, and obstetrics. Additional services such as diabetes education, health heart and rehabilitation, podiatry, orthopedics and other visiting specialists.

    Qualfications


    • Baccalaureate degree in Pharmacy and current licensure with the College of Pharmacists of British Columbia. Completion of a Hospital Pharmacy Residency Program or a combination of at least one year of hospital experience and advanced education courses. Active membership in the Canadian Society of Hospital Pharmacists is encouraged.

    Demonstrated ability to complete initial and ongoing patient assessments (clinical and diagnostic reasoning) through appropriate/prescribed technical, therapeutic, safety type interventions.



    Teaching:
    Ability to teach patients and others both one-on-one and in groups.


    Knowledge Integration:
    Integrates best practice and current research evidence to support professional practice decisions and actions.


    Communication:

    Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, the public, medical staff and members of the interdisciplinary team using verbal, written, computer communication means.

    Ability to effectively apply conflict resolution skills.


    Critical Thinking:
    Demonstrated ability to integrate and evaluate pertinent data (from multiple sources) to problem-solve and make decisions effectively. Applies the problem solving process demonstrating critical thinking and decision making skills using a systems approach.

    Demonstrated computer skills including the use of Cerner and Windows based programs. Demonstrated data analysis skills including appropriate data analysis and reporting tools. Demonstrated ability in the use of e-mail and word processing. Ability to operate other related equipment as required in the specific practice area.
