Full-Time Team Lead position

Job Location - Toronto, Ontario (Major intersection Don Valley Parkway and Danforth Avenue)

Specialized Community Services


As Team Lead, you will report to and work closely with the Management Team to ensure the support needs of all individuals residing in the assigned home are exceeded, while seeing to it that staff members feel valued, motivated and committed to excellence in all their areas of responsibility.

Providing leadership and guidance in a collaborative, team-oriented environment, you will be responsible to ensuring that the environment is safe and that the daily administrative requirements of operating the home and all regulatory requirements as per the Ministry of Children, Community, and Social Services (MCCSS) are achieved.


Ultimately, your success in this leadership role will be a direct reflection of your ability to contribute directly to a positive experience for our Specialized Community Services clients and their families.

Take an inside look at what you'll do each day
Leading by example in your assigned home as Team Lead, you will:

  • Build strong relationships and rapport with all clients within the home, so as to gain a good understanding of their care needs and behavioral supports
  • Coach and monitor staff to ensure everyone understands client care, individual plans, and behavioural support plans, working on any performance concerns from the Management Team
  • Ensure adherence to the meal plan and the recreation plan
  • Providing orientation to new staff to ensure continuity of support and care for individuals
  • Complete weekly reports and submit to the Management Team
  • Perform daytoday audits of documentation to ensure adherence to regulatory bodies
  • Track and identify trends and escalate issues accordingly
  • Complete scheduling and ensure adequate staffing is in the home.
  • Ensure a healthy and safe environment for clients and employees, by participating in staff safety training and home inspections, and ensuring compliance with standards and requirements

What you need to be successful
To take on the role of Team Lead - Specialized Community Services
, you must:

  • Have a certificate from a related field such as a diploma in Behavior Science, Developmental Service Worker, Child and Youth Worker, Psychology, Social Work and/or equivalent
:


  • Bring at least one (1) year of direct support experience in a handson role providing support to youth or adults with developmental disabilities and complex needs, as well as at least one (1) year of a role in a leadership capacity
  • Hold a current CPR and First Aid Certificate
  • Provide a clear criminal record check with vulnerable sector screening obtained within the last 3 months
  • Provide an initial medical form and an uptodate Immunization Record
  • Effective oral and written communication skills with proven interpersonal abilities
  • Strong administrative and time management skills is a must
  • Be prepared to participate in Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) Training (deescalation and physical management training)
  • Be able to provide employee development and coaching in a teamwork environment
  • Ability to be well organized, flexible, detailoriented and focused on excellence in customer service
  • All team members are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID19 and provide proof of vaccination upon hire or provide a valid medical exemption
