Job description
Uptown Eye specialist is looking to hire a full-time Surgical counselor at our Vaughan location.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Counsel patient for all surgeries (cataract/retinal/glaucoma/cornea/lids, etc.).
  • Stay current with the latest technologies & techniques and be able to answer general patient questions (premium IOLs, etc.).
  • Verification of medical benefits for surgery
  • Receives and processes requests for surgical procures and coordinates with physicians.
  • Discuss the benefits and costs of noncovered benefits with patients.
  • Complete consent and other necessary forms for surgery.
  • Forward packet of surgical paperwork to appropriate surgical facility/hospital.
  • Inform the patient of any preadmission testing.
  • Counsel patients on what is expected on the day of surgery, answer any presurgical questions and inform them of followup care.
  • Schedule/board patients at the correct facility with the appropriate boarding information per each surgical location's requirements
  • Arrange History & Physical forms.
  • Able to accurately read surgery encounter form.
  • Must comply with all policies and procedures of the organization, including but not limited to standard operating procedures and employee handbook.
  • Perform any other duties assigned to accomplish the task at hand.
  • Acting as a communication link; arranging for patient tests, entering diagnostic requisitions, and receiving results.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare or nursing.
  • Experience in Eye care and the field of ophthalmology will be preferred.
  • Excellent communication, sales and negotiation skills.
  • Good ability to handle multitasks and set priorities.
  • Ability to work in a fastpaced work environment.
  • Very good organizational and time management skills.
  • Good knowledge of dealing with different types of personalities.
  • Passionate, dedicated, and fast learner.
  • Flexibility and dependability to meet demands and changes in the workplace.
  • Ability to work in a team setup.

Daily Schedule & Shifts:

  • Monday to Friday
  • 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM

Salary:

20$ to 23$


Supplemental pay types:
Bonus pays.
