How you will contribute as part of the TRCA team:

The Crew Leader performs field work, provides guidance and liaises with team members to coordinate field work and supports projects or ongoing resource management to ensure crews are focused on timelines and priorities.


Major Responsibilities:


  • Performs field work, liaising with the supervisor and other team members to coordinate field work activities to ensure work is completed in compliance with TRCA policies, standards and timelines.
  • Conducts field work including operating machinery and supports the coordination of field work by providing onsite work coordination to the team.
  • Supports the resolution of customer service concerns with visitors.
  • Ensures quality control checks and tests are instigated, with records maintained and accessible.
  • Conducts site setup, reviews of implementation progress and site cleanups; ensuring adherence to work plans.
  • Coordinates the operation and maintenance of equipment as required (ranges from small tools and measuring devices to heavy equipment); may also operate machinery/tools as required.
  • Ensures the required site activities are completed as per work scope.
  • Participates in and/or leads daily safety meetings including tailgate meetings, hazard identification and emergency planning.
  • Incumbents may also be assigned other duties.

What will you need to succeed:
Education (degree/diploma/certifications)

  • Completion of college diploma in Resource Management, Ecological Restoration or Management, Environmental or Engineering Science, Landscape Design, Forestry, Construction, or a related field.
  • Valid Ontario Class G driver's license.
  • Valid Standard First Aid & CPR/AED Level C Certification.
  • Experience with operating and certification on construction and landscape maintenance machinery and chainsaws is an asset.
Experience

  • 2+ years of experience in Landscaping, Construction or Habitat restoration.
Knowledge/Skill/Ability

  • The ability to demonstrate strong problemsolving skills in a field environment; is able to break down site required activities and delegate and estimate time / resources / budget required to complete tasks.
  • Practical construction and landscape maintenance experience including familiarity with landscape and construction equipment and machinery.
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite including online software such as MS teams, WebEx, and SharePoint.
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act, related Regulations and legislation.
