JOB DESCRIPTION


The Manager is the Transformation project delivery lead in the Region, managing individual zero emissions vehicle infrastructure projects and providing expertise, advice and guidance to colleagues engaged in the delivery of Transformation projects.

Leads project core team members through all project delivery phases including overall management, execution, control and delivery of zero emissions vehicle infrastructure projects.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Below are the main job requirements and responsibilities for the Manager, Transformation Project Delivery.


  • Provides key input during the planning and solution development stages, leveraging knowledge of projects, budgeting and scheduling. Ensures the project development and delivery adheres to corporate and Transformation project management processes, policies and practices. Applies the corporate investment process, establishes project specific processes, identifying impacted groups and defining customized interactions.
  • At the project delivery onset, develops project plans including identifying roles and responsibilities of core team members. Leads the cross-functional project team composed of internal corporate resources and external contracted service provider resources, balancing demands for scope, time, cost, risk, and quality in order to deliver the identified requirements.
  • Manages the high level phasing processes required to ensure that the integration of various process groupings are properly coordinated. Integrates operational and contracting requirements with project plan development, project plan execution and integrated change control, reporting and project closeout. Resolves issues that arise between service providers and client groups, and where necessary escalates to appropriate executive level for resolution.
  • Ensures the project management company and their contracting team are on schedule and maintain costs within the budget. Reports status and variances to budget to Project Sponsor and Senior Management on a regular basis. Recommends, gains approval and implements solutions to resolve unfavourable variances.
  • Plays a key governance role with external service providers (project management companies) and Canada Post in the administration of the contract, ensuring thorough and accurate administration of transactions related to contracts. Oversees the creation and approval of On Demand Service forms, Authorized Expenditure from Contingency Allowance forms, and the preparation of electronic purchase orders for corporate approval.
  • Confers with the project delivery team on issues of contract interpretation, non-compliance with contract and performance of project management companies. Ensures the service provider submits client satisfaction surveys and project close-out reports and updates the historical project cost database.
  • Develops a Communication Plan covering all aspects of the project and engaging all affected or interested parties both inside and external to the Corporation. Ensures change management and training needs are identified and addressed throughout the project, from project onset to the handoff.
  • Ensures all risk management issues have been identified and mitigated with appropriate contingency plans. This includes all aspects of the project, budget, timing and deliverables, through all stages of the project life cycle in order to ensure cost effective and satisfactory delivery of desired outcome.
  • Provides Transformation project management expertise, guidance and support to key stakeholders.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Post secondary degree in either Business Administration or Engineering will be considered
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) designation or working towards certification

Experience
years' experience in Project Management of medium to large projects or leading a functional project team as part of a major Facility Change

  • Proficient computer skills and competent with Microsoft Office programs
  • Designation and or certifications programs may be required for certain positions (e.g. Finance & Engineering)
  • Excellent team building and leadership skills and experience
  • Sound organizational, analytical, judgement and decisionmaking skills with proven abilities in problem solving
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to build and maintain relationships
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
