About the position:

As part of this position, you will be operating a spray patch truck in a general road construction environment.

Given our short season you must have a willingness to work 12 hours shifts that may include nights, holidays, and weekends.

We work in a dynamic and ever-changing environment, to ensure the safety of our people and the public. You will arrive fit for duty with adequate time before your shift to be prepared for work.


You will be responsible for the safe operation of our spray patching equipment keeping open and clear communication with labourers, flaggers and compactor drivers who will be part of your crew.

You may be responsible for flagging/traffic management, and operation of a compactor as part of this role as assigned.

Spray Truck Operator

Requirements:


  • Safe operation of a spray patch truck (Class 3 or Class 5 license with air endorsement required), abiding by all traffic and sitespecific safety protocol.
  • Active participation in daily safety meetings contributing ideas and opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Ability to trouble shoot mechanical issues with support from Foreman or Heavy Duty Mechanic.
  • Ability to understand and follow all Standard Operating Procedures related to loading all material into the truck, fueling, job start up, job execution, job completion procedures.
  • Ability to direct the set up, reposition, and tear down of traffic control signage efficiently, safely and in accordance with site and Alberta Transportation requirements.
  • Demonstrate a team first, safety first attitude while working.
  • Protect colleagues and the public by keeping workspace free of traffic, and warning oncoming traffic and coworkers of potential hazards.
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to communicate clearly and effectively using established signals and radio communication to ensure safe operation of equipment.
  • Ability to work in a highstress environment and ensure safety of team and traveling public.
  • Have a willingness to work physically in a team environment by assisting coworkers with other duties as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must have valid driver's license (Class 3 or 5 with Air Brakes) with a recent 5 years abstract.
  • Must be able to pass drug/alcohol testing and maintain alertness and be fit to work.
  • Previous spray patching, or operation of spray patching truck experience an asset
  • Traffic control/traffic management certification an asset
  • Experience in Construction Project Management as asset
  • Previous experience operating heavy machinery in a construction or road construction environment.
  • Reliable transportation to get to and from work.
  • A high school diploma or GED an asset
  • Valid first aid certification including CPR is an asset.
  • Must be able to write, read and communicate effectively in English.
  • Experience with safety regulations and safe practices

Contract length: 6 months


Pay:
$25.00-$30.00 per hour
