:This course will cover legal principles and strategic considerations in three types of negotiation processes involving Indigenous rights and interests: 1) historic Specific Claims and other fiduciary claims, 2) governance, and 3) collaborative agreements with private industry. It will include skills development to represent the diverse interests and perspectives of First Peoples, provincial and federal Crowns and industries such as forestry, mining, hydro and telecommunications.Posting limited to:

The Common Law Section is seeking candidates who are leaders in the legal profession. An LL.B., J.D., or equivalent is required for this position. Membership in the Law Society of Ontario, or equivalent, in good standing is also required.The successful candidate will have significant expertise and experience in the areas of Indigenous rights and Indigenous legal issues, as well as alternative dispute resolution and written and oral advocacy. In addition, the successful applicant will have particular expertise and experience at the intersection of negotiation and Indigenous legal issues, rights and interests.Prior teaching experience will be considered an asset.
The Common Law Section reserves the right to select a candidate who does not fully meet each of these requirements, where the candidate's selection would be beneficial to the program, the course, the students or for a related reason.
