Reporting to the Manager, Client Accounting, the
Accounting Assistant supports the accounting team by performing administrative tasks for the team.
This is the ideal role for a proactive, professional individual who has the ability to learn and adapt quickly, with strong interpersonal skills, keen attention to detail and excellent analytical skills.
This position offers someone who has an accounting education the opportunity to join an effective team within an established, successful business, help make a meaningful contribution by collaborating with the teams to develop and implement best practice policies and procedures to meet set objectives, and potentially develop into a Junior Property Accountant role.
Responsibilities:
The Accounting Assistant will:
- Complete scanning and filing of accounting related mail and correspondence
- Coordinating investment purchases, renewals and redemptions for the portfolio
- Perform month end and midmonth bank reconciliations
- Facilitate external audits by gathering and uploading requested files and documentation
- Coordinate with external auditors to manage and track audits and tax returns undertaken by strata clients
- Prepare basic T2 and T1044 tax filings for our strata corporation clients
- Communicate and work with interoffice department teams, including but not limited to: Operations, Administration and Human Resources
Knowledge and Experience:
Familiarity with general accounting processes and with Yardi and the T2 & T1044s is desirable.
The role includes communicating with internal contacts within the organization, as well as external client contacts. Excellent interpersonal skills are key to success in deliver of the role, including outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
