    About the Role

    The EDM Machinist Programmer determines program requirements based on design and engineering requirements, ensures that Sink EDM machine is in working condition and properly calibrated, sets up and operates precision machinery as needed and writes or edits programs for Sink EDM machine.

    Your Responsibilities


    • Perform prescribed duties and responsibilities outlined in all levels and categories

    • Design electrodes in CAD system

    • Machine electrodes

    o organize multiple jobs at once
    o program electrodes using CAM system
    o operate machining center required in the manufacturing of electrodes


    • Hand work electrodes

    • Proficient in Sink EDM Machine Operation:

    o Ability to setup, pickup, program and run Sink EDM machines as per departmental goals.
    o Ability to view files and insert electrodes into files


    • Perform to quality standards defined by department

    • Maintain machine runtimes as per departmental goals

    • Effectively work from home to feed programs to the cell to keep machines running during off shift hours, as needed

    • Perform and record all required geometry checks at designated intervals

    • Must ensure the use and proper documentation of the "Quality check sheet"

    • Train all aspects of electrode design/ designing principles, graphite CAM programming/ programming principles, graphite machining/ machining principles, graphite hand work/ handwork principles and Sink EDM machine operation and operating principles to ensure smooth transitions and promote a stronger overall department.

    • Initiate, participate and educate others in standardized work processes, 5S initiatives and help create work instructions based on them and everything else learned to date.

    • Notice abnormal conditions in processes and effectively solve the issues

    • Must be able to read, react and make recommendations on work in the scheduling system

    • Available and willing to travel as required for training, benchmarking, etc.

    • Work alone on various shifts with minimum supervision

    Who we are looking for

    We are looking for a team player with a positive attitude to join our Team of skilled Designers, Mould Makers and Machinists.

    Your preferred qualifications

    Education:

    • Minimum completion of Grade 12 diploma or equivalent experience

    • College diploma in a technical field, or equivalent experience
    Experience:

    • Previous experience as a Sink EDM Machinist
    Skills:

    • A strong working knowledge of CAM software

    • A strong working knowledge of CAD software

    • Ability to analyze NTF related issues and correct for future circumstances

    • A proficiency in the use of:

    o Electrode design/ designing principles
    o Graphite CAM programming/ programming principles
    o Graphite machining/ machining principles
    o Graphite hand work/ handwork principles
    o Sink EDM machine operation and operating principles



    • Strong verbal and written communication skills are required

    • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (particularity Word and Excel)

    • Ability to effectively problem solve

    • Strong interpersonal skills

    • Well-developed organizational and time management skills
