Dental Assistant and Dental Administrator - Toronto, Canada - Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital
Description
To provide duties including efficient operation of dental administration, treatment coordinating and assisting the Dental team as required.- Sound understanding of dental treatments and outcomes
- Treatment coordinating for specialized dental treatment, general anesthesia and virtual care appointments
- Ensure accurate billings of treatments, payments, insurance submissions, coordination of benefits and adherence to client identification and privacy guidelines
- Maintain a current understanding of fee guides, including government funded programs
- Explain treatment and payment options available to clients and families; refer clients to alternative funding resources as needed
- Prepare and reconcile daily deposits
- Review and followup on overdue accounts and direct to collection agency as needed
- Understands Accounts Receivable Administrator's duties and provides support as needed
- Daily interaction with other programs, services and external organizations
- Actively participate and share relevant information in morning rounds
- Support the clinical operations as required
- Preparation of clinical area, instruments and materials required
- Assist the dental specialist in providing patient care
- Plays a role in supply management and preventative maintenance
- Support the organization's strategic plan
- In partnership with clients/families and the interdisciplinary team, provides client and familycentred care which is goal directed, evidence based and outcome oriented
- Supports and respects the client/family's rights to make decisions based on their own values, beliefs and experiences
- Bases practice on established policies and procedures
- Interacts with members of the interdisciplinary team and community providers to ensure an integrated approach to service
- Promotes and supports the physical, psychosocial and spiritual wellbeing of clients and families
- Collaborates with the client/family to plan, implement and evaluate care
- Communicates in a timely, respectful and effective manner
- Participates in organizationwide quality improvement initiatives, supports the maintenance of a safe and healthy work environment and advances a culture of client/patient safety through work and daily practices
- Comply with Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation contingency plan, emergency codes, standards and guidelines; participate in accreditation
- Represent the program and organization internally and externally
- Other duties as assigned or required.
- Dental Administration/Reception or Treatment Coordination certification
- Dental Assistant Certification updated annually
- CPR and required recertification
- Minimum 3 years experience in a Dental Administrative role
Skills:
- Previous Dental Administrative and Dental Assisting experience, preferably in a health care environment
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills; demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and balance multiple disparate projects
- Excellent communication (written/verbal) and interpersonal skills coupled with a strong customer service orientation
- Proven ability to work independently with mínimal supervision, and also in a team environment
- Demonstrate initiative and problem solving skills
- Demonstrate ability to use tact and judgment in dealing with sensitive and confidential information
- Must be detailed oriented
- Possess and project a positive, solution oriented outlook
- Ability to work with frequent interruptions and prioritize work accordingly
