  • We are currently seeking a
    Learning & Development Manager (L&D Manager) to oversee and lead a growing team responsible for organizational training, student placements, and volunteer services. Reporting to the Senior Director of Organizational & Human Resources, the L&D Manager will respond to evolving employee training needs and develop placement opportunities for students and volunteers that are of mutual benefit for the students, supervising service areas, and the individuals supported by New Directions.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Supervision of the Learning & Development (L&D) team currently comprised of four full-time team members and additional casual trainers.
  • Leading the L&D team in developing and regularly refreshing training programs and materials, considering content, design, and value in various formats.
  • Working with Agency Management and key stakeholders across the organization to identify emerging training needs,
  • Collaborating with the New Directions' Clinical Team (responsible for cliniciansupervised training), to review new training requests and ensure organizational training does not conflict with or contradict clinical training and direction,
  • Facilitating organizational training where required and to maintain awareness of current organizational realities,
  • Promoting and advancing innovative ways to deliver training, prioritizing accessibility in all modalities,
  • Advocating for training related committees, furthering allyship within the organization,
  • Maintaining positive and active working relationships with secondary and postsecondary educational institutions to ensure New Directions continues to be topofmind for student placements for a variety of faculties and disciplines.
  • Working with service areas across New Directions to develop and supervise, as appropriate or required, student and volunteer placements that complement and enhance service delivery, while providing the students and volunteers with valuable experience,
  • Reporting on training, student and volunteer metrics, and utilizing such data for informed planning and decision making,
  • Monitoring a modest budget, working within the guidelines and processes from the financial team.
  • This position requires collaboration within the Organizational & Human Resources team, as well as the Central Support Services team and Agency Management (of which this position will be a member), for both daytoday and joint project work. The L&D Manager may be required to act on behalf of the Senior Director in their absence. _This position is based in Winnipeg, with a hybrid work option available. Travel to other locations in southern Manitoba, including the possibility of overnight stays, may be required for training and events._
  • A degree or diploma in Organizational Development, Human Resources, Adult Education, social sciences, or a related field,
  • Minimum of five years of experience in Organizational Development, Training, and/or Human Resources, along with a minimum of three years of experience in a supervisory or management role,
  • Experience with both inperson and online facilitation, and creation of selfdirected learning,
  • Understanding of achieving learning outcomes, and the ability to pull various training "asks" into an organized, logical format or program,
  • A demonstrated ability to approach organizational needs in a collaborative, yet solutionsfocused, manner, with a track record of successful project implementation,
  • Proven ability to foster effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, focusing on outreach and customer service,
  • Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills, including when reporting on data/metrics,
  • Established organizational skills and attention to detail, with an ability to work in an evolving work environment and the flexibility to balance multiple project needs,
  • A demonstrated awareness and appreciation of diverse cultures and traditions, as well as antioppressive practices,
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office 365 products (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint), and handson experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS), and Human Resource or Volunteer Information Systems,
- _Qualifications considered additional assets:_ Certificate in adult education, CPHR designation, previous experience in social service and/or non-profit setting, knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL).
