The Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority (NPCA) is a community-based natural resource management agency that works to protect, enhance, and sustain healthy watersheds.

With 60 years of experience, the NPCA offers watershed programs and services that focus on flood and hazard management, source water protection, species protection, ecosystem restoration, community stewardship, and land management.

The NPCA is one of 36 Conservation Authorities in the Province of Ontario.

With 41 Conservation Areas within the Niagara Peninsula watershed, the NPCA manages lands that are held in public trust for recreation, heritage preservation, conservation, and education.

These natural and shared greenspaces marry nature, culture and adventure to create limitless opportunities for discovery.


Summary of Duties

Duties and Responsibilities


The Program Associate - Communications will assist in developing, implementing and evaluation communications and marketing plans and strategies to address department and corporate communications needs for bot external and internal audiences.

This role will support the corporate brand by promoting a positive image of the NPCA and helping to monitor and update the corporate website and social media.


  • Support the team in the execution of the NPCA Communications and Marketing Strategy.
  • Assist in writing articles, blogs, newsletters and the gathering of information for press releases as well as participating in the creation of social marketing content and promotional campaigns.
  • Assist with multimedia collateral around various projects (design, web, digital materials)
  • Identify opportunities for positive media coverage, facilitate content research and support media monitoring.
  • Provides marketing and promotion support for NPCA events and projects, including managing social media presence and creating written promotional materials

Qualifications

  • Postsecondary education in Communications, Public Relations or a related program.
  • Experience with web design and digital media
  • Social media experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Good understanding of computer skills (Microsoft Office)
  • Must be able to work safely in accordance with the NPCA Health and Safety Policies

Location:
NPCA Main Office - 250 Thorold Rd W, 3rd Floor, Welland, with occasional travel within the Watershed required.


Salary:
$17.50/ hour (35 hours per week)
