The goal of Bayshore's government relations strategy is to position Bayshore as an interprofessional and innovative organization that government can trust to co-design, test, spread and scale models of care that lead to value for money in a health system.

These services include but are not limited to nursing, pharmacy, therapy, personal support, home support and medical services.

The focus is to build trusting relationships within government to advance the development of a robust home care system in Canada creating exceptional patient and family experiences.


This position reports to the National Director, Business Development and Government Relations and will focus on creating and engaging Premiers Office, Ministers Office, political staff and other sector associations and stakeholders based upon the priorities set by operational divisions and approved by COO.


The position is primarily REMOTE, but will occasionally require on-site or virtual meetings with government officials in western Canada and at NSC (Mississauga) in Ontario.



  • DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Works with the President, executive, all divisional Managing Directors and teams to:
  • Develop a stakeholder analysis and communication plan to support achieving objectives
  • Establish GR tactical plan including hosting events that bring stakeholders together
  • Create coalitions where needed and participate with sector associations including becoming a board member or participating on committees and working groups, bringing key issues forward to resolution
  • Conduct digital campaigns to advance specific issues
  • Conduct letter writing campaigns, develop white papers using evidence based approach.
  • Establish key relationships with select government targets and networking opportunities
  • Present Bayshore capabilities and capacity or specific messaging to MPs, MPPs, MLAs, cabinet ministers, senators, political staff, ministry staff, crown corporations, federal agencies, boards, commissions
  • Create submissions to respond to legislation, regulations and policies that affect any part of Bayshore business
  • Evaluate effectiveness of GR firms, select firms and review possible conflicts of interest
  • Manage a GR budget for region assigned
  • Collaborate with internal staff within different divisions and external partners to support programs and Bayshore brand
  • Collaborate with Bayshore team members to conduct technology environmental scanning and identify partnerships with technology vendors in healthcare;
  • Travel in various parts of western Canada (BC, AL, SK, MN) is required (40%);
  • Regular fulltime position, with flexibility to work outside of regular business hours to meet stakeholder needs as necessary;
  • Grow revenue through new government funded opportunities including supports for HHR capacity, training and skills development, practicums, placements, preceptorships;
  • Participate in ongoing internal and/or external continuing education activities;
  • Adhere to Bayshore Policies and Procedures;
  • Participate in quality activities and continuous improvement initiatives in keeping with the company's Quality Management System;
  • Participates in proactive Health & Safety activities while performing all duties. Is responsible to notify immediate Supervisor of any Health & Safety risks or concerns. Responsible for completing Accident Reports for all direct reports who injure themselves on the job, within 24 hours of the incident;
  • Maintains confidentiality of client and corporate information and discusses same only with appropriate Bayshore personnel; and
  • Complete other tasks as requested.
Job Qualification


Education and Experience

  • Masters or PhD Degree required, with Political Science, Policy, Business Administration or a healthrelated discipline preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of individuals and constituencies at senior levels of government
  • Strong understanding of government relations strategies and tactics
  • Persuasive with experience in creating system, legislative, regulatory change
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in government relations or health system advocacy role
  • Experience with stakeholder engagement and clinician engagement
  • Understanding of medical and health profession
