    About the role

    As a Claims Representative I, Accident Benefits, you will be responsible for investigating Accident Benefit claims to ensure a prompt and fair settlement. Your experience and expertise in claims will help you deliver outstanding customer service while analyzing and acting decisively based on the facts. Your natural ability to negotiate, influence, prioritize, be proactive and think creatively on your feet will help you thrive in our collaborative and energetic culture.

    Location can be in either offices: Dartmouth, Nova Scotia or Dieppe, New Brunswick.

    What you'll do here:

    • Analyze and interpret insurance policy wordings to determine coverage and assess entitlements which are fair and equitable
    • Communicate in a timely and respectful manner with the customer, claimants, lawyers and insurers to settle claims and report findings and settlements
    • Conduct investigations and identify additional information such as independent medical examinations, customer medical or employment history required to clarify and/or justify a claim
    • Collect reports and statements to determine liability and coverage
    • Ensure all cases are clearly documented and meet any or all legislative requirements
    • Team collaboration on process efficiencies
    • Participation in team initiatives or projects as required

    What you bring to the table:

    • Prior property & casualty claims experience
    • Understanding of the customer claims journey and exceptional customer service skills
    • C11 is a requirement for this position along with continuing with the CIP program (Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation). Successful candidates must have completed or willingness to complete the CIP program.
    • Knowledge of medical terminology and/or previous experience/education within a kinesiology or rehabilitation environment is considered a strong asset
    • Bilingualism in French and English, spoken and written, is considered a strong asset
    • Ability to communicate and negotiate effectively
    • Strong analytical and decision-making skills
    • University degree or college diploma and/or equivalent business experience
