Position Purpose:

Under the direction of the General Manager and Service Manager, the
Pool & Hot Tub Technician is responsible for assisting with performing service and repairs for residential and commercial customers that may include openings, closings, repairs, chemical adjustments, and maintenance of swimming pools.


Key Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Respond to swimming pool-related work orders in a timely, friendly, and efficient manner to assess and repair non-functioning machinery or equipment.
  • Diagnose, repair, troubleshoot, and maintain swimming pools, water systems, filter systems, pumps, and other swimming pool equipment.
  • Carry out scheduled water cleaning, using chemicals like chlorine.
  • Check and repair corrosion, cracks, and leaks in the pool walls or floors.
  • Use swimming pool vacuum cleaners to clean the pool floor.
  • Skim the waterline and clear of leaves, sticks, pine needles, and other debris
  • Maintain the proper chemical balance for the pool.
  • Clean out or backwash filters to relieve pressure and restore flow rate.
  • Log and report equipment faults or water quality problems to managers.
  • Repair, replace and install pool equipment (pumps, motors, filters, etc.)
  • Install pool liners
  • Safety Cover Installations
  • Pool chemical readings and adjustments
  • Open and close swimming pools
  • Taking detailed work order notes of work completed/what future work the pool needs, including an accurate accounting of parts used and entering the service record in our software in a timely and efficient manner so invoicing can be processed.
  • Check pool equipment and verify that everything is working properly

Other Duties & Responsibilities

  • Maintaining equipment and chemical stock levels at the store and in the vehicle.
  • Repair and maintains electrical and mechanical equipment.
  • Transports and stores hazardous chemicals.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Competencies & Qualifications:

  • Ability to work various shifts, including days, evenings, and weekends.

  • Safety shoes or boots
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs

Desired Competencies & Qualifications:


  • Knowledge of pump, filter, and heater replacement systems.
  • Pool chemical knowledge.
  • Pool equipment knowledge and experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • First AID/CPR certification an asset
  • Leadership skills
  • Previous experience in pool and spa repairs is preferred
  • Highly motivated, reliable, and organized

Salary:
Up to $31.00 per hour
