Scope for the position:

The Buyer will effectively manage inventory levels & accuracy to meet sales targets, fill rate and budgetary goals.


Basic function of the position:

Developing methods to ensure that all product lines remain at optimum inventory standards.


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Maintaining fill rates of 94% or better for third party brands while sustaining inventory levels to meet budget.
  • Inventory planning.
  • Manage excess inventory.
  • Create good working relationships with vendors and brokers.
  • Work with vendors to increase their fill rates to us.
  • Ability to negotiate with brands to expediting purchase orders.
  • Work with freight carriers to schedule/manage shipments.
  • Raw Material item set up in Oracle.
  • Source raw materials as required.
  • Some travel may be required.
  • Maintain production records, batch records and Certificates of Analysis as required.
  • Handling, storage and transportation of raw material as required.
  • Duties as assigned by Purchasing Manager.

Required qualifications, education, experience:


  • Post-Secondary Business/Materials Management Diploma
  • 35 years of jobrelated experience
  • Involvement in SCMAO, working towards CSCMP
  • Advanced computer skills, Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Access)
  • Familiarity with an MRP system. Oracle specifically would be an asset
  • Communicate effectively both written and verbal
  • Ability to perform in a fast paced and everchanging environment
  • Excellent organization skills
  • Multitask orientation
  • Possess a reliable vehicle and valid driver's license
