What You Will Do:


  • Oversee development, implementation, coordination, and facilitation of summer camp activities (i.e. excursions, work experience opportunities, life and social skills)
  • Support Community Support Coordinator with recruitment of camp employees
  • Train, coach, and supervise summer camp employees during the duration of program
  • Supervise camp employees and provide ongoing coaching support. Connect with Community Support Coordinators as needed.
  • Assist and followup with individuals with intellectual disabilities and their families in the registration process for summer camp and review to ensure program is a match for support needs (i.e. ISP, Behaviour Support Plans)
  • Liaise/communicate with different stakeholders (i.e. community businesses, organizations, supervisors and parents/caregivers)
  • Support with creation of activity kits/supplies for camp and to assist with distribution (as needed)
  • Be the main point of contact for summer camp related inquiries/incidents; respond and address situations to ensure appropriate action has been implemented to address incidents.
  • Oversee the daily operations of camp and address concerns as needed (i.e. attendance, incidents)
  • Address any concerns/feedback from parents/caregivers in relation to camp. Escalate to Community Support Coordinator as needed
  • Followup on feedback/evaluations of program on a regular basis
  • Provide support to children, youth and adults who have an intellectual disability in the Summer Camp setting as needed (Camp will operate from July 2 to August
  • Supervise and engage participants in social, recreational, life skills and communitybased activities
  • Oversee the budget and plan expenditures related to camp expenses
  • Ensure health and safety protocols are in place and being followed
  • Ensure incidents are documented and appropriately reported in the Associations database
  • Conduct debrief meetings with summer camp employees regularly
  • Be a proactive team leader and promote the Association values of teamwork within Community Living York South and with all stakeholders.
  • Carry out administrative duties as that may be required by Association
  • Engage in projects as directed by Community Support Coordinator
  • Other duties as required

What We Need:


  • Values driven individuals;
  • Experience working with people of various ages and abilities is preferred;
  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma required;
  • Must be between the ages of 1530 at beginning of employment period (as per Funder
requirement)

  • Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or protected refugee (as per Funder requirement)
  • Must have a registered SIN (as per Funder requirement)
  • Ability to be flexible with working hours
  • Some positions: A second language is mandatory (including but not limited to French, Farsi, Cantonese, Mandarin, Punjabi, Urdu and/or Tamilas per Funder requirement)
  • Able to work from April 15th to August 23rd inclusive
  • First Aid/CPR Standard C and Non-Violence Crisis Prevention Intervention certification
  • Ability to lead others/leadership skills/model, direct and mentor colleagues; capable of fostering independence in others;
  • Strong advocacy and interpersonal skills;
  • Demonstrated achievements in community development/community capacity building;
  • Superior computer skills in MS Office, Adobe in Design, and search engine capabilities;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail;
  • Excellent public speaking skills;
  • Excellent problemsolving skills
