JOB SUMMARY:


Reporting to the Director of HSE, the HSE Coordinator is responsible for the overall development, implementation, and monitoring of the HSE program that safeguards people, property, and environment that aligns with service delivery to clients.

WORK CONDITIONS:


The work location will be on multiple field worksites located in developing subdivisions and JATEC projects throughout Edmonton and surrounding areas.

This person will be primarily focused on site safety in the field and utilizing the office environment for administrative functions, orientations, record keeping, and reporting.


RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Enhance and update HSE Program to safeguard people, property, and environment.
  • Promote, educate, and train staff on the HSE Program and to ensure understanding, adherence, and commitment to a safe work environment.
  • Perform new hire orientations to train and educate on program, policies, and culture.
  • Advise and educate to support safety policies and protocol.
  • Attend and review hazard assessments on sites to ensure safety work and consideration of all hazards and corrective actions followed for compliance.
  • Work with supervisors and employees to update and monitor safe work practices and safe job procedures that reflect the work the company does.
  • Facilitate compliance on rules, policies, and safety program.
  • Ensure compliance of personal protective equipment and coordinate training and equipment for specific job requirements.
  • Provide oversight on Preventative Maintenance program and ensure safe operations of vehicles and equipment.
  • Attend safety meetings and facilitate discussion on safety program with focused topics. Coordinate safety training requirements to ensure safe work place. Train supervisors and staff on safety program and OH&S requirements for compliance.
  • Conduct site inspections and track to ensure supervisors are performing site inspections.
  • Perform accident and incident reporting to determine root cause and corrective actions and educate all employees with followup compliance.
  • Assess, monitor, and ensure proper emergency preparedness in order to facilitate efficient response.
  • Maintain all safety documentation. Track and analyze statistics to visualize trends in order to determine ways to improve company program.
  • Conduct WHMIS Training and ensure compliance on worksite.
  • Educate personnel and followthrough on Fitness for Duty Program.
  • Identify shortcomings and provide input with reasoned initiatives to streamline work and communication flow.
  • Conduct proper reporting to company and all required governmental bodies.
  • Manage WCB Claims with work related injuries on and monitor a return to work program.
  • Maintain Certificate for Recognition requirements.
  • Monitor compliance of legislation, industry practices, HS&E Program, and company polices through a review of documentation, site inspections, staff interactions to ensure followthrough of the program.
  • Develop and analyze metrics through collection of information to provide statistics and trends to improve HSE Program.
  • Ensure supervisors have proper emergency preparedness in order to facilitate efficient response.
  • Manage the prequalification, orientation, and monitoring of subcontractors to ensure compliance with legislation, industry practices, and JATEC HSE Program.

JATEC SPECIFIC RESPONSIBLITIES:


  • Provide support to field operations position will be 5075% field setting
  • Facilitate site orientations
  • Assist workers with Field Level Hazard Assessment process
  • Conduct field audits of sites, and workers' adherence to Safe Job Procedures and Safe Work Practices
  • Facilitate site safety meetings
  • Facilitate procedural training
  • Ensure compliance with legislation, JATEC Policies and Procedures, and Clients Requirements (PPE compliance, equipment inspection compliance, etc.)
  • Coach and mentor workers
  • Conduct investigation and provide support for incidents
  • Assist with the development of safe job procedures
  • Assist as coauditor for COR Audits
  • Facilitate Client Orientations
  • HSE Data entry/filing
  • Prepare site specific Emergency Response Plans
  • Facilitate onsite training
  • Manage onsite WHMIS program

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • HSE Certificate or Diploma
  • NCSO
  • COR Audit experience
  • 3 year's experience in the health and safety field, either as a Safety Coordinator or a similar role that helps create and enforce safety standards.
