- Direct the telematics portion of product design and development at initial design phase including:
- Design concept
- Regulatory compliance
- Testing methodology.
- Direct and guide standardized approach to Design of assigned new products focusing on Performance of product, Design for Manufacturability, Serviceability, Reliability, Affordability, etc.
- Work within design teams on assigned products from concept through prototype testing to ensure design meets scope and development targets.
- Ensure appropriate and disciplined approach to design activity is followed.
- Field research as required. Business travel will be an occasional requirement.
- Teach and mentor design engineers and technologists and recommend skills training and process improvement where necessary.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Logical, consistent, and effective approach to problem solving including risk mitigation in design.
- Good communication skills – written and verbal.
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent work ethic.
- Senior engineering experience in electrical and/or software design and implementation.
- Experience in data collection system design.
- Experience in vehicle/equipment telematics preferred.
- Experience with mobile equipment control systems preferred.

This is a leadership position that involves management, design, project planning, estimating; a certain level of customer relations and interfacing with the rest of the company. A successful candidate will own the engineering and product development of that particular platform. A truly successful candidate will have expertise in the particular field of the platform.
