Duties and Responsibilities


The Installation Assistant works alongside Cabinet Installers to assemble and install a variety of commercial and residential cabinetry and millwork products.

The position ensures cabinetry is installed properly, in adherence to project requirements while maintaining quality control of all materials used.

The Installation Assistant works with a variety of individuals, including customers, contractors, project managers, and cabinet makers to ensure the successful installation of all cabinetry.

The job duties and responsibilities of the position will also include, but not be limited to:

  • Cleaning and preparing job sites and removing any items that need to be replaced.
  • Loading and unloading supplies, tools and equipment.
  • Reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, specifications, instructions, etc. to determine work activities.
  • Reviewing projects with project supervisor prior to installation.
  • Reviewing completed projects with customers for approval and final payment as necessary.
  • Measuring, marking and recording openings and distances of areas where installation is to occur.
  • Operating a variety of hand and power tools.
  • Erecting scaffolding and other work platforms as required.
  • Reporting deficiencies immediately to the project supervisor.
  • Following all contractors' site rules and directions.
  • Taking inventory and cleaning work vehicles on a weekly basis.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Requirements/Qualifications

The successful applicant will have the following:

Experience

  • Some experience in the millwork/woodworking industry.

Education/Licenses/Certificates

  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent required.
  • Valid driver's license required.

Knowledge

  • Working knowledge of the carpentry/construction industry, including processes, procedures, equipment, tools and machinery.
  • Knowledge of health and safety and safe lifting and material handling procedures.
  • Knowledge of the safe operation of basic hand and power tools.
  • Strong customer service skills with a commitment to customer satisfaction.

Skills

  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Extremely detail oriented with a high level of accuracy.

Abilities

  • Ability to read blueprints and building specifications.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment with changing priorities.

Working Conditions

  • Manual dexterity to use related equipment, tools and machinery.
  • Must be able to stand, bend, twist and walk for extended periods.
  • Must be able to lift up to 100 lbs.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Overtime and travel may be required.
