Job description
The Quality Control Specialist ensures that all products and processes meet customer requirements, regulatory standards, and internal quality objectives.

This role involves managing quality systems, conducting audits, analyzing defects, driving continuous improvement, and supporting production teams in problem-solving to achieve zero-defect manufacturing.

Quality Management Systems (QMS)

Maintain and support compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and customer-specific requirements.
Assist in internal and external audits, ensuring corrective actions are implemented effectively.
Prepare and update standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, FMEA, and control plans.
Manage QMS document information and ensure the latest revisions, approvals, and an effective documented information process.

Product & Process Quality

Support Engineering activities during new product launches & Engineering Changes.
Monitor Processes and measurement devices, calibration, etc., and provide data for process capability.
Conduct process audits and shop floor quality controls.
Maintain calibration records of measurement equipment.
Validate article/first off inspections (FAI) and sample approvals.

Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement

Lead 8D, 5-Why, Fishbone (Ishikawa), and other structured problem-solving methods for internal and customer concerns.
Support corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to eliminate root causes.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Engineering, Production, Supply Chain) to drive Lean and Six Sigma initiatives
Review, monitor, and audit issued NCRs for effective resolution and correctness.

Customer & Supplier Quality

Act as a key contact for customer and supplier quality issues (complaints, warranty returns, audit findings, supplier issues).
Manage supplier quality performance, incoming inspection standards, supplier development, and supplier corrective actions.
Manage supplier quality performance, including incoming quality, audits, and SCARs (Supplier Corrective Action Requests).
Support supplier development and qualification programs.
Track and report Customer PPM / Supplier PPM metrics and supplier Scorecards.

Documentation, Data Analytics, & Reporting

Prepare quality performance reports (scrap, rework, defect trends, KPI dashboards, all Quality Metrics).
Data gathering, analysis to support all CI initiatives, decision-making processes, and QMS monitoring

Continuous Improvement

Lead initiatives to reduce scrap, rework, and PPM levels.
Champion Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma projects within quality and operations.
Implement best practices and lessons learned across production lines.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or Electrical) or similar technical discipline
Minimum 5+ years in a QA role, ideally in a regulated manufacturing setting
Proficiency in ISO 9001, ISO 14001; experience with customer-specific standards; familiarity with FAI, control plans, FMEA, etc.
Knowledge of regulatory (IEEE/ANSI & CSA Standards) and customer specifications.
A high level of experience with LEAN concepts considered an asset.
Must possess good computer skills with experience in Excel, Word. Experience in Industrios considered an asset.

Quality Tools & Methods:
Root cause analysis (8D, 5-Why, Ishikawa), SPC, MSA, process capability studies

Auditing:
Internal audits + experience working with or auditing suppliers

Supplier Quality:
Ability to manage incoming inspections, supplier scorecards, SCAR process

Technical / Measurement:
Experience with measurement devices, calibration, validation of first parts / sample approvals

Communication & Collaboration:
Strong written/oral communication; comfortable engaging with production, engineering, supply chain, customers and suppliers
Certifications (optional but helpful): Six Sigma Green Belt, CQA/CQE, or similar; auditor training; supplier quality or industry-specific certifications
