    Job Summary

    Dalhousie Medical School attracts some of Canada's top students, physicians, and health researchers. With campuses in Halifax, Nova Scotia and Saint John, New Brunswick, and over 100 teaching sites across the Maritimes, we provide aspiring doctors and health researchers with the highest caliber of education. Reporting to the Senior Manager, the Faculty Research Programs Manager Services contributes to the effective and efficient management of the faculty research programs by guiding, administering, and overseeing new and existing Faculty of Medicine research programs, including associated Advancement agreements.

    Key Responsibilities

  • Works with the Senior Manager, the Associate Dean, Research, the Office of Advancement, and faculty members to oversee the development and implementation of research programs in the Faculty of Medicine.
  • Provides oversight for the coordination of the application, review, and awards process for research programs.
  • Oversees research program budgets, ensuring allocation processes and financial reporting.
  • Works closely with Office of Advancement staff to determine readiness of financial commitments related to research programs.
  • Collaborate with a variety of colleagues to oversee the recruitment and hiring process for endowed chair positions, as well as the renewal of these positions.
  • Supervises the Coordinator, Faculty Research Programs, including performance management and development, workload management, leave management, and discipline, according to the collective agreement.
  • Note

    The successful applicant will be eligible for hybrid work (combination of in-person work on campus and remote work) as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements and university guidelines.

    Required Qualifications

  • University degree with three to five years' relevant experience in a post-secondary academic, research funding or administration environment (or an equivalent combination of training and experience).
  • Experience with guideline/program development preferred.
  • Must have strong financial and analytical skills.
  • Professionalism with confidential information and matters.
  • Ability to work in a deadline-driven, fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects and with diverse teams.
