MedIT provides information technology support for the Temerty Faculty of Medicine.

As Audio-Visual Specialist, you will play a critical role in assessing and integrating high quality audio-visual solutions and service support to students, faculty, and staff.

In close collaboration with the Temerty Medicine's MedIT team across campuses, you will serve as the first point of contact for technical enquiries and solutions, you will be accountable for the technical quality of events and participate in the practical training and support of end-users to ensure efficient and effective use of video conferencing and presentation systems.

You will draw upon your strong problem-solving skills and technical proficiency to adjust to changing circumstances and to adapt to the latest technologies.

Your commitment to achieving successful outcomes will be critical to supporting ongoing initiatives across sites.


Your responsibilities will include:


  • Settingup and maintaining audio/visual systems, troubleshooting and resolving technical issues
  • Coordinating and scheduling audio visual requirements for ongoing lectures and events
  • Coordinating the booking and delivery of classroom audiovisual equipment with contacts
  • Conducting needs assessments to determine enduser technical requirements
  • Implementing plans and process improvements for project activities
  • Testing and analyzing new and upgraded software and hardware
  • Evaluating new technologies or new and modified businesses processes to determine enhancement requirements and implementing a rollout plan for new audiovisual technologies
  • Liaising with vendors to coordinate services and resolve issue

Essential Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in an audiovisual or IT related field, or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum three years of experience working in a university or healthcare environment supporting IT solutions
  • Demonstrated experience with coordinating and scheduling audio visual requirements for lectures and events
  • Demonstrated experience supporting existing IP videoconferencing and digital media streaming technologies, as well as webbased collaboration and conference technologies
  • Experience with both PCbased and dedicated videoconferencing, audiovisual, collaboration, and presentation technologies
  • Indepth and demonstrated knowledge with AV technology and ability to keep abreast of developments in AV technology, with a strong emphasis on user experience
  • Experience conducting needs assessments and evaluating new technologies for recommendation
  • Proficiency with industrystandard AV technologies, including videoconferencing and web streaming products, gatekeepers, gateways, MCUs, firewall traversal tools, networking and standard communication protocols (like H.323, SIP, and H.264protocols)
  • Comprehensive knowledge of integration AV control systems and Ethernet networking, TCP/IP controls
  • Strong knowledge of Windows and Mac operating systems
  • Proficiency in media formats, such as MPEG, QuickTime, AVI and Windows Media, digital media recording and editing tools (i.e. Camtasia, Adobe Premiere, and Final Cut), and Learning Management Systems
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills
  • Superior organizational and analytical/diagnostic skills
  • Must be selfmotivated, results oriented, a quick learner with a strong customer service focus and impeccable attention to detail
