Community Living Ajax-Pickering and Whitby (CLAPW) is a family-based association assisting people who have an intellectual disabilities and their families to lead the way in advancing inclusion in their own lives and in their communities


This includes:


having an opportunity to explore meaningful employment and developing friendships with colleagues, having a choice to live where you want to live and being part of a neighbourhood, participating in a place of worship, and exercising the right to vote.

We are looking for a qualified student. The Administrative Assistant will provide administrative support to various departments and programs.


General Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Using word processing, spread sheets, marketing materials, flyers, agency forms, mass mailing, photocopying, and data entry.
  • General filing and document retrieval using electronic and paper systems as required.
  • Scanning and uploading documents to systems.
  • Support department and Agency wide special projects and systems implementation/ improvements.

Qualifications:


  • Paid/unpaid experience in office administration.
  • Current student in Human Resource/ Business/ Administration/ Communication/ Community Service/ Media related program, or recent graduate with an interest in the charitable sector.
  • Interest in research and experience with online research.
  • Proficiency in the use of the English language both oral and written is required.
  • Ability to take direction with the ability/flexibility to adapt to multiple business requirements and changing priorities.
  • Initiative and creativity to develop innovative solutions to challenges and problems.
  • Meticulous records maintenance skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication and listening skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective work partnerships with colleagues of diverse backgrounds, abilities, and identities.
  • Effective time management skills and demonstrated ability to prioritize.
  • Highly motivated to continually strive for excellent results including ongoing improvements to work processes.
  • Able to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Provide proof of full vaccination against COVID19.

Requirements:
This position is being advertised under the Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) initiative.

To be eligible for this position, you must be between 15 and 30 years of age on the start date of the job.

You also must have been a full-time student during the previous academic year and be intending to return to full-time studies in the next academic year.

You also must be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident or a refugee under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.
