  • The Health and Safety Officer's role is to develop and strengthen our work safe culture. The health & safety officer will be responsible for supporting the Management Teams, Supervisors and Workers to achieve safety goals. This position will also provide leadership and coordination of the day to day safety requirements for the Rossdown group of Companies. The Health & Safety Officer is responsible for establishing, implementing and maintaining Health & Safety Programs for all companies within the Rossdown Group. What we offer

  • A career path to management *Responsibility**: Responsibility for the overall administration of workers compensation program
  • Assist in conducting accident investigations involving employees/contractors and make recommendations to prevent similar incidents.
  • Conducts biannual fire drills and/or natural disaster, sudden event and/or industrial accident practice drills.
  • Review all health and safety aspects; analyze and compile information to determine areas of improvement.
  • Identifies and corrects situations that pose an immediate danger to life or health (IDLH). Follows up with corrective measures when unsafe acts are detected. Conducts testing and sampling as required.
  • Tracks safety issues and facilitates safety improvements.
  • Assists emergency personnel with their duties and liaises with local emergency response agencies.
  • Stop and prevent unsafe actions, conditions and stop work as necessary
  • Densifying and manage risk in the areas of people, assets and environment and making appropriate recommendations to management to reduce or mitigate areas of risk. *What you need to apply** CRSP Certification
  • Superb verbal, written and communication skills.
  • Solid communication, technology, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • 23 years experience: as an administrator for a Health & Safety Program in a manufacturing environment
  • Excellent technical skills in data management, Excel reporting and spreadsheet design.
  • Proven Technical Program Writing skills
  • Working knowledge of WCB legislation, COR or OSSE certification requirements
  • Post Secondary Education in Occupational Health & Safety or related Field
  • WHMIS certification, First Aid and CPR/AED trained
  • Must be extremely organized and a selfstarter; able to work with limited supervision
  • Strong interpersonal and troubleshooting skills; deals with conflict effectively
  • Must be a strong multitasker, and must cope with conflicting priorities and deadlines
  • Internal COR auditor

Job Types:
Permanent, Full-time Salary: $80,000.00-$100,000.

  • AEC / DEP or Skilled Trade Certificate (preferred) Experience:
